Publisher's summary

Dakkon’s in trouble. Things have gone horribly wrong. But so long as there’s still a glimmer of hope, it’s not too late, is it? With such high stakes, failure isn’t an option. He’s got to stay crisp. Frosty. Focused.

Dakkon needs luck, skill, and a meteoric rise in power, however success won’t come so easily. Nature is cruel. Predators come in all shapes and sizes, especially when the land is warped by magic.

Everything rests on Dakkon’s shoulders now, but perhaps someone can tell him: Elves. Why must they all be so damned uppity?

End of the First Act.

This book really feels like the end of the first Act. Now Dakkon has tools, a purpose, and motivation. I really hope that the author doesn't put out a fluff book next while he tries to figure out where he wants the story to go. I know some authors struggle after Act 1 but this series is so good thus far that I'm fervently hoping that doesn't end up being the case here.

Good storytelling

I will say that the plot meandered a bit towards the end when the MC went off on a random quest and strange probably completely unnecessary impersonation spree. Overall the series is one of my favorites that we don't get enough of.
Keep up the good work.

Great addition to the series.

This was a good book. Definitely liked it very much. I love the progression system for magic and skills in this book. The was the MC utilizes his skills is cool to. I like how he tries to think out of the box. I think my 1 criticism for this book would be the MC Dagger. Since the first book the MC has possessed this awesome dagger. In this book he finds out a little more information about said dagger. The big problem is that in this particular book, the only thing the dagger touches, is a crate that he uses it like a crowbar to open. It's just a personal criticism, just because it seemed like the knife was an important item, and told for the MC. Oh well, you'll still absolutely love this book.

Heard You Like Side Quest!

Greatly enjoyed this listen, however iit felt more like book 2.5 rather than 3. That being said, it was a fantastic listen. Nick Podehl nailed another great performance. Here's to hoping the next audio book comes soon.

Enjoying this

Tbh I enjoy listening to the narrator Nick podehl, so when searching his name I came across this book. I genuinely enjoy the book as yes it’s a respawn book bout he made the npc characters have more by giving them 1 life only. And to be unique in there own way. Def looking forward to the next book.

Why’s everyone so upset?

I actually enjoyed all of that just like the first two books. Why is everyone so upset it didn’t go the way you wanted it? Write your own damn books if you are so upset haha

Love The Series

The twists from books 1 and 2 were great. However this book feels like more so a lackluster solo side story especially after the hardcore ending of book 2. The characters it does introduce feel really inconsequential such as the elf who the MC was supposed to find or the mist villain who doesnt have any buildup and is just evil for evils sake. I feel like with more group quests and interaction it would've been great. Even if it was the new characters, the time MC and elf spent together or the priest captain and MC felt pretty fun and interesting. Either way I am looking forward to the future of this series!

Another Fun Adventure!

I am really enjoying this series so far, and I'm really looking forward to the next installment. The story is engaging and well written, and Nick Podehl is brilliant as the narrator as always. On the other hand, the MC seems to be relying far too much on his high Luck stats in this book rather than on any kind of skills or strategy. The old phrase, "better lucky than good" sums up Dakon's story completely thus far. He stumbles around the game world making consistently stupid decisions while insulting kings and gods alike with churlish impertinence - sometimes to the point of cringe worthiness - yet he always seems to prevail no matter the odds against him. Dumb luck indeed!
