Publisher's summary

“Insightful, humorous, practical, this book will not only help you understand the story you’re telling yourself but also reveal a new story that allows you to love better.” (Russell Moore, director of the Public Theology Project at Christianity Today)

In this powerful, transformational guide, the author of the best-selling book The Road Back to You breaks new ground with the Enneagram - the ancient personality typing system - by revealing how each of us inhabits a broken story that runs counter to the Larger Story of divine grace and who we were created to be.

Drawing on his training as a psychotherapist and his own personal experience, Ian Cron explains how you can:

  • Rewrite the self-sabotaging stories you tell yourself about who you are.
  • Free yourself from the tyranny of unconscious childhood messages.
  • Overcome the self-defeating patterns of behavior that prevent you from becoming your authentic self.

With this powerful tool, Cron shows us how each type can shed their broken stories and harness their unique power within to become who we are truly meant to be, shedding the unhappiness we accumulate by trying to live out of the wrong story. Filled with examples from people whose lives have been transformed for the better, Cron maps out a guide for using Enneagram wisdom to reauthor your life and experience deep inner transformation, healing, and happiness.

Rewrite the story of you and find the freedom in becoming your true self!

So. Informative.

The perfect book to finding your type and learning all about it! You’ll learn your core motivators, how you think and feel, and why you do and say the things you do. Ian reminds us that we always have the power to rewrite our stories no matter where we come from.

A beautiful and applicable dive into personality

This is a great follow up to the Road Back To You as it challenges each type to go deeper into the work it requires to rewrite their new story. The questions and practices Ian poses for reflection has personally led me to powerful self-revelation, even after years of enneagram work. It also serves as a richly engaging curation of examples that shine light on the inner worlds of the various types. Definitely worth the read.

Healthy view of the Enneagram

This book is a great tool in helping shed light beyond a personality assessment and moves through to inner freedom. I had felt trapped in Enneagram typing and in this book I see a journey to healing/self-mastery. I enjoyed Ian’s gracious and insightful explanations told through his personal walk and other people’s stories.

In-depth journey to help you find you

Through an exploration of the Enneagram, introducing us to many of Ian’s friends, he shows us how to move into S:seeing, O:owning, A:awakening and R:re-writing our stories.
SOAR-ing is his approach to assist us to enter the larger story of God’s love. This was one of the finest teachings I’ve studied so far, about the 9 Enneatypes.

Experience feelings of tenderness in learning more about those you love

I’ve been an avid listener of Ian’s podcast, a reader of his books and Enneagram enthusiast for several years now. I wasn’t sure if I’d learn anything new in this book, but it wasn’t so much what I learned that proved to be so wonderful. Instead, it was the unexpected tenderness I felt and softening of my own heart as I listened in more depth to the stories of my favorite people, that make this book feel like such a treasure and a gift. Hearing the chapters on the Enneagram type of my husband, best friend, and daughter touched me deeply, and will help me be better understand them as we carry on in life. Ian - your work is incredibly important. Thank you!
