Publisher's summary

The third in the Witches of Karres homage series, this is a rollicking romp through the outer reaches of the galaxy.

If he’d known he was getting stuck with a pair of psi-wielding super-beings, even straitlaced do-gooder Captain Pausert might have thought twice about rescuing his two young “witch” charges from slavery on a dark planet.

But what’s done is done - and with galactic peace once again threatened in the mysterious and pirate-ridden Chaladoor region, only a dangerous mission backward in time can save the present and - maybe - get stalwart-but-obtuse Pausert to see one of these young “witches” as more than just a friend.

Fun read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially given its close adherence to the style and originality of James H Schmitz, who authored the Witches of Karres. I like the fascinating problems that the protagonists have to face, and those dilemmas consistently echo the kinds that I think Schmitz might have come up with himself, giving them all a “familiar ring”. I believe that Schmitz would be absolutely delighted with the way his story has developed.

T. Rider Smith does a great job of presenting the story and allows the listeners to truly enjoy the experience. His reading adds to the impact and humor of the text.

I would hope that Erik Flint and Dave Freer would continue the stories about these characters that we love so dearly… maybe books 5-7 or 8 even? I assure you that I would not hesitate to get them.
