Publisher's summary

You've heard this story before: a guy supposedly kills himself, but his best friend can't accept it. He calls in an investigator he knows to take a second look, certain there's more going on.

I'm the investigator. Secret Service Agent Sean Avery. The guy who called me? My ex, Vice President Jonathan Sharp. And the guy he doesn't believe put a bullet in his brain?

That was President Steven Baker.

The deeper I dig, the more things fall apart. I've got a dead president inside a locked room. A hidden note. A secret gun. A missing CIA officer.

And no one I can trust.

Now Jonathan's in the crosshairs, and if I don't figure out what really happened that night at Camp David, the love of my life might be the next president to die.

This M/M romantic suspense features smoldering forbidden love and a May/December second chance romance that ignites.

Amazingly good

This is such a fantastic listen, I could not put it down. John Solo's narration is always spot on and I'm never disappointed. This was my first book of Tal Bauer's but it won't be my last. Action, intrigue, espionage, romance, it has it all, I could not get enough. If you want a light fluffy read this book is not for you.

I can’t get enough!

I’ve only recently found the master works of Tal Bauer, and so far, I haven’t read one that hasn’t set my heart on fire! The attention to detail, the promise of a juicy plot twist with a back stabber hidden in plain sight, and the love shared between very well developed characters. These are the books that should be made into gay movies! I would pay to see every one of his books in theaters!

Loved!

I read the ebook first and loved it. But listening to Sean and Johnathan’s relationship journey really hit a lot harder than it did when I first read the book. Definitely a great narration of an incredible story. I think this might be one of my favorite audiobooks and is one I’ll definitely listen to again!

Night not to Forget

Secret Service Agent Sean Avery is working at Camp David to protect the President and some Foreign Nationals when a shot is fired. The President has killed himself. Vice President Jonathan Sharp, believing there is a conspiracy and his own life is at risk, asks the only person he trusts to look into the death as a murder. Agent Avery wonders why he still trusts him after their secret affair ended horrendously a year ago.

I loved the strong friendship between the VP and the President and First Lady and I loved how the First Lady sort of nudged the VP and Agent Avery together. The misunderstanding / miscommunication between VP Sharp and Agent Avery was unique and I could empathize with both sides. Once that was cleared up, they were perfect for each other. I did not guess the mystery before it was revealed. I had my fingers crossed for Agent Avery to solve it just in time, and he did. Too bad so many people had to die but that’s how these stories go.

I picked this book because of the narrator, John Solo, and his reading of the first chapter on his youtube channel. I’ll probably be buying all of Tal Bauer’s books that John narrated.

The Night Of

My favorite type of story and Tal Bauer always does it so well.
I love a tense, edge of seat race to solve the complex murder mystery.
Intertwined with a gritty sensual love story that is so intense the tension and emotion is palpable. Especially so when the audio book is so brilliantly performed.
Sean is a Secret service agent attached to the presidential detail in a remote way. Jonathan is the vice president.
Jonathan and Sean have history, And when the president Mysteriously dies under under circumstances that leaves best friend Jonathan questioning everything. He turns to Sean for help when trusting anyone could prove fatal.
The whole story takes place in just a few short days.
A convoluted tangled deception is revealed that while not real life believable makes a great page turner for intrigue.
I enjoyed this story very much.
John Solo is a terrific narrator.

Good story. Good narration.

Sigh. This is another one of Tal Bauer's thrill rides. Plenty of emotional upheaval, several steamy scenes, and all the political intrigue you would expect for a story that takes place in the White House. The narration was worthy of the story, and John Solo does a good job adding personality to each character that he voices.
