Publisher's summary

It was just one night.
It was just one mistake.

FBI Agent Noah Downing had questions about his sexuality that a single night in Vegas should have answered. But dawn finds him on a plane back to Iowa, back on the trail of a vicious serial killer who disappeared six years ago and has suddenly resurfaced. There's nothing like a murder investigation to escape an existential crisis.

FBI profiler Cole Kennedy is still reeling after finding a heart-stopping connection with a seemingly perfect man, only for him to vanish. When he's sent to Iowa to profile the killer terrorizing America's heartland, he finds more questions than answers - both about the murderer and about Noah, the last man he ever expected to see again.

A twisted secret stretches between Cole and Noah, tangled with questions they both have about each other. But now, thrown together, they'll have to unravel the killer's profile and follow his trail...back to the very beginning, to where everyone's questions are answered once and for all.

This is an M|M romantic suspense stand-alone novel, featuring a second chance romance, the hunt for a twisted serial killer, and one man's journey to acceptance. Eighty thousand words.

Very good story and narrator.

Great story and great chemistry between characters. Narrator does a great job with voicing characters. The crime seems simple at first but gets really good at the end. I hope this author does another FBI story with other cases. Great blend.

Five stars all the way!

This author is amazing when it comes to writing suspense, mystery, and falling in. 💕 Cole and Noah's story is proof of that fact. Their story was good. I'm talking about really, really, good. And to be able to relax my eyes and have a talent narrator read their story to me was a bonus. I highly recommend their story. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy! 🥰

Great Thriller

Creative story with a nice twist. I really liked this couple, two very strong alpha men (and the opening romance scene is fantastic).

M/M Criminal Minds like!

This is Tal Bauer perfection! When I rate it 4, it’s actually 4.5…near perfect. And I’ll only say it wasn’t 5 just because I didn’t love John Solo’s narration entirely. It was great, but some scenes just felt over acted.

This story follows two men who both work for the FBI in different capacities who meet at a general conference in Vegas. It’s a story of an awakening for one, feeling like he’d been a failure in his past het marriage.

Noah and Cole meet again as a case that had gone cold is come back to life and young girls are losing their lives. This book spins romance and suspense so well, you really don’t know ‘who dunnit’ until nearly the end.

If you haven’t started including Tal in your TBR, now is the time.

Love Love Love

What a beautiful surprise. I love the Arthur. I love the narrator. I've been seeking for a really good book for a while and I finally found it. I can't wait for book two. I'm very sad that I don't have access to book two.

if you really want a good but just to chill out and relax and listen to for eight hours plus this is it.

Great story. Great narration.

This was my favorite type of story. A Vegas story that beats most of mine, a serial killer mystery tossed into the middle of corn country, an interesting plot twist, and some epic character angst.

I am a mystery fan first and foremost. I learned to tolerate romance in my mysteries because it is so prolific. Tal Bauer's writing compels me to look forward to the romance. Bauer knows how to capture the emotional tension that real humans experience when they are trying to balance careers, family, and romance.

Reading this story was a tension filled adventure, and listening to this story was equally tense even though I knew the end. John Solo did a great job of showcasing each character's personality with nicely constructed voices.

Great story

The author leaves you guessing, the characters are relatable, and the narrator is able to portray all the emotions of the characters. This is one of my favorites of Tal’s books.

This book had everything except spaceships.

....but that's totally fine because the author wrote excellently with a fantastic plot and the narrator was totally on point.

Different and great

I've only listened to a few of the gay mystery type books. This one is good and different. I'm not the family type and the additional daughter changes the dynamic. I understand it's needed for the story line, but sometimes seems overplayed. A great listen anyway.
