Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Darynda Jones comes a story in her Charley Davidson series…

Eric Vause is done.

Done with ghosts. Done with hellhounds. And definitely done with asshole demons, mostly because he’d been possessed by one. Even now, five years later, the rage he absorbed from the creature has yet to wane, so he decides a road trip is in order. Surely some cool air, great scenery, and a case of Dos Equis will shake things loose. Unfortunately, supernatural events happen everywhere. When he meets up with a friend whose partner’s daughter needs help with a pest problem—aka, a ghost—Eric takes that as his cue to leave.

Until he sees her.

He can tell Halle’s house isn’t the only thing that is haunted. The hopelessness behind her eyes tugs at something deep inside him. Something all too familiar. The fact that she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen has nothing to do with his change of heart. And he vows to leave her in his rearview the minute he takes care of the poltergeist. Then again, vows were never his strong suit.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Another great story

I love that we still get glimpses of the Charlie world. It was fun hearing Eric’s tale. Can’t wait to see what is next.

Wish there was more

Love this world. I love Lorelei as a narrator but if Jason was originally from New Mexico, his last name is pronounced like V-heal not Vig-il. Almost stopped listening because of that….

A great novella

A great novella to add to this series. I really like the 1001 Nights since they are short and to the point. As usual, Lorelei King does a wonderful narration.

Best Narrator

The narration of the story is amazing. I just close my eyes and can picture the different voices as completely different people. If you are familiar with the series, you will understand when I say, I wish beep was in it, however, as a side story, it was extremely interesting and kept my attention throughout.

This is an amazing series.

I believe I have read all of Dyranda Jones book and there isn't a boring one in the bunch. Most I have read at least twice. She writes phenomenal characters, the stories are amazing from the very beginning. The narration by King couldn't be any better. I wish I could give both of these wonderful women a 10 instead of only a 5.

A quick short story

4.25 Stars 🌟

Well, I can start by saying that I fell in love with this series many, many books ago. I was thrilled to see this novella come out and it was an automatic buy for me. I listened to this - as usual - on audio and as usual Lorelei King did a fantastic job with the narration. She has been a constant in this series and her voice is now synonymous with this series for me.

The story is a very quick and easy read/listen that has us following Eric Vause. Eric was unfortunately caught up with the events that occurred with all of the chaos surrounding Charlie and he was possessed - only for a little while, but it left lasting effects. Now, he is still partially embedded in the supernatural world and has some pretty unusual talents.

We find him on a little vacation visiting a friend and finds that he cannot escape from what he can see. Not only that, his friend asks a favor from him. He wants to see if Eric can help the daughter of a friend, who just might be being haunted. And off we go.......

The storyline wraps up nicely - if a bit too tidily (is that a word?) but I forgive that because it was fun to get this short story. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a pop in from Charlie or anyone from the "gang".

But oh well, I'll gladly wait for the next book to hopefully see everyone.

This was an amazing story! and Lorelei was phenomenal as usual. I was disappointed that it was so short, though!

Loved the story and of course Lorelei King reading it made it even better. Only complaint is that I want more!
