Publisher's summary

Zombies. It was out in the open, that word that I had been avoiding for days. Now that it was out, there was no putting it back.

No one saw it coming. No one could have guessed that the vaccine that was supposed to save lives would take them, instead. Once the death toll started to climb, it took less than a day for the world to change forever.

When Bri's roommate suddenly develops a taste for cannibalism, she finds herself trapped in her upstairs bathroom, unable to comprehend the horrors that she sees through the small window. That limited view of the outside world doesn't begin to show Bri just how much danger she's going to be in when she finally escapes her home.

Running for her life, Bri won't be alone for long. With the help of a bat-wielding stranger, she barely escapes the overrun city. Together, they just might survive long enough to find a safe haven.

The zombie apocalypse is a strange time to be alive. The dead walk and eat the living, but they're not the most dangerous thing this new world has to offer. There are other survivors out there. And not all of them can be trusted.

Forget This One

Because that’s what you’ll do 5 minutes after the end. Completely unremarkable and unmemorable. Starts out with a decent first person perspective on the beginning of the ZA, but ends up falling back on the same tired plot devices used in 100 other apocalyptic novels here on Amazon/Audible. Give 30 Days a pass.

I liked it

it's a simple zombie apocalypse book, but I enjoyed it a lot, it was very good at describing things in detail without making it 30 hours to listen to. the characters were very likeable too

Who needs weapons in a ZA..in America

I cannot believe that adults would act this braindead. Rural America has more guns than any place in the world and the main characters spend 6 hours with 1 bat and a knife. They didn't even make spears in a outdoor center in the woods. Search a police station? search houses for shotguns? machetes ? A chair gets more action in this book than any melee weapon. It feels like this universe has zero zombie movies and books.

worth a read

this book is worth a read if you like zombie apocalyptic books. it is a different take on a genre that has been beaten with a stick. this is basically a different view point on the downfall of society. the story wasn't bad I really like the story. my problem came from the narrator I feel that the book got the raw end of the deal. the narrator was just dull and flat reading the book with no inflection. I like narrators to put a little bit of effort into the story and inject some emotion. this made it a bit hard to listen to but the story was overall pretty good.

Love it

I honestly loved the book and I’m hoping she writes more. It doesn’t feel like other books. Some other book try so hard to push that their character is “so pretty “ it’s not like that here. Bri is realistic and the plot is great. And I’m super happy I found it.

Fun Debut Novel

TF3D is a good first effort by Lora Powell. Fiona Small's narration of the Audible version is excellent. The story follows the expected plot line for zompoc fiction but keeps it fresh by focusing on a few characters as they try to navigate the initial outbreak and survive afterward. I really enjoyed that the main character, Bri, is not a super soldier survivalist before the outbreak, nor does she suddenly become one after (as in so many similar works). She is more likely to run and hide than to come up with some GI Jane attack when faced with danger. This makes for some great and believable sequences where she is just trying to survive and we, the readers, are right there with her. Over time, Bri finds others who try to band together and get someplace safe. A sub plot of an attraction develops between Bri and one of the other characters but I liked that it built slowly and both are more focused on staying alive than romance. The zombies are great and unrelenting as they should be. Later on in the book there are some cartoon bad guys who seem to show up just to keep things exciting. Luckily, the focus largely remains on Bri's POV during these encounters so there isn't a lot of expansion on why they seem to wander around the wasteland, doing evil deeds, with no worries about the zombies. Also, there are some mixed metaphors in the text that another edit screening probably would have helped. Overall a fun and entertaining book.

Enjoyed

This was a good book just super disappointed that there isn’t another one to see what happens to the group.

Meh…

It’s a basic zombie story narrated by Cat Valentine. At this point I haven’t been able to get day 10 or 11. Maybe it gets better?
