Publisher's summary

When a young woman vanishes without a trace from a quaint fishing village on the coast of England, only one person knows the truth, but he remains silent allowing the authorities to search for her in vain.

Meanwhile, Valerie Crane finds herself transported to the year 1605.

Terrified and confused, she turns for help to the Whitfield brothers, who take her in and offer her a home.

Both Alexander and Finlay Whitfield fall in love with the mysterious woman, who shows up on their doorstep, creating a love triangle that threatens to consume them all.

Valerie must make her choice, deciding between the brother who will lead her down the path of destruction, or one who will give her a love she couldn’t find in her own time.

Story line sounding intriguing but while on a road trip, instead of keeping us awake & the miles sweep but- we had to get bcuz it was putting both to sleep.

Will never know about the story & we love the author, Irina Shapiro. Too bad.

What a wonderful story

It starts with heartbreak but as you listen you realize that her story, or life, was just beginning. Yes, it does have a time travel twist to it, you do become invested in the story.

I highly recommend this book to you if you are looking for a good suspense story.

A unique love story that proves fate is in hand.

I appreciated hearing the story, I loved the visuals. I savor the mystery of romance, rather than the description.
I feel one should use inflection rather than accent in telling a story.
Over all enjoyed this and look forward to hearing more of this love story.

Can't wait to listen to the next book!

My Audible library houses 20 of Irina Shapiro's books. I am a fan of her work and although this was one of her earlier books, it didn't disappoint. I loved the narration! I'm already invested in Alec, Valerie, little Finn and Louisa. I can't wait to see if someone travels forward or back in time...
If you are waiting on the next release in this series, I would suggest downloading and listening to Echoes from the Past and/or The Wonderland series while waiting. You won't be disappointed!!

Cute story, delivery is lacking

I enjoyed the story enough to get the next book in the series. The delivery is very lacking. The narrator goes in and out of a terrible British accent. Sometimes the characters speak in British, sometimes with American accent sometimes it's half and half ... distracting.

Very entertaining

I've listened to almost a dozen Irina Shapiro books and have enjoyed them all. This one is her first book as she told me and was nervous about the quality. Well she shouldn't have worried. I quite enjoyed it. Sometimes you just need a book that is just whimsical and doesn't need any explanation as to why things happen. You can just enjoy the journey of the characters and the world they have been set in. This is one if those books. It went by very quickly. I am looking forward to book 2. The narrator did a fine job. A few mispronounced words, but nothing terrible. She has a good tone and kept at a good pace. I recommend this book.

Time Travel

I'm a big fan of Ms. Shapiro. Of her books that I've read, this one did not appeal to me as much as her other books. It is historical fiction going from present day to 1605. There is a twist that makes the story a bit more interesting. I felt that the audio could have been improved by using a different reader. I found her voice a bit annoying, but that is purely personal preference.

Great story.. Narrator so so.

The story was great. The narration was bad early on... but got exponentially better as the book went on.
