Publisher's summary

Stay in the game, with your mind.

With the world or combat sports put on hold and hundreds of thousands of students training from home in 2020, the mental study of jiujitsu has become more important than ever. In the highly requested third volume of the Danaher Diaries, there are now over 100 musings from the mind of John Danaher from before and during the worldwide pandemic that drove the BJJ community out of gyms and onto various online training programs. Danaher's writings cover the timely to the timeless as he reflects on the current state of jiujitsu and it's unchanging constants.

Included in volume three are:

  • Danaher's famous concepts of first contact and strategic engagement
  • His parable style teachings such as "The Back and the Serpent"
  • Reflections on the evolution of Gordon Ryan, Gary Tonon, and Nick Rodriguez
  • His real-time reactions to the onset of COVID-19 and New York's shelter in place order.

Through it all, you'll listen to the inner workings of the consensus top coach in the sport of submission grappling, and leader of the now world famous "Danaher Death Squad" training out of the Renzo Gracie Academies basement. Professionally edited and packaged into short, daily audios that are perfect for training at home or as a gift for the quarantined grappler

Special Audiobook Enhancements:

  • Ambient background noise of live rolling helps to break up chapters
  • David Sweeny-Bear delivers a performance worthy of Danaher himself!
  • New chapter breakouts from easier listening

I always enjoy Danaher's content.

After listening to Volume 1 & 2 - I was happy to see another volume produced. It was comparable to the other and I liked it.

Technical details and overall concepts.

I love that John gives us technical details and overall concepts to meditate on. This book will help me defend myself and my meditation practice and it will help me become a better training partner as well.

Good insights.

Articulate, easy to understand clear, and concise descriptions, which were very good to help illustrate the point being talked about.

Every iteration of The Danaher Diaries has enhanced my fundamental understanding of the art, and provided many insights that I have already implemented into my game and seen improvement.

Consistency of valuable content.

I loved the breakdown of concepts and principles lauds out. I also really appreciated the additional details of how to utilize those concepts and principles as a strategy. I strategic and systematic approach to combat is my preferred method over just embracing fucking chaos and using whatever comes to mind in the fray. sometimes that's necessary and you don't have a choice, but most of the time you can avoid that kind of situation if you're always a step ahead of your opponent.
