Publisher's summary

From decorated Green Beret sniper, UFC headliner, and all around badass Tim Kennedy, a rollicking, inspirational memoir offering lessons in how to embrace failure and weather storms, in order to unlock the strongest version of yourself.

Tim Kennedy has a problem; he only feels alive right before he’s about to die. Kennedy, a Green Beret, decorated Army sniper, and UFC headliner, has tackled a bull with his bare hands, jumped out of airplanes, dove to the depths of the ocean, and traveled the world hunting poachers, human traffickers, and the Taliban.

But he’s also the same man who got kicked out of the police department, fire department, and as an EMT, before getting two women pregnant four days apart, and finally, been beaten up by his Special Forces colleagues for, quite simply, “being a selfish asshole”.

In Scars and Stripes, Kennedy describes how these failures shaped him into the successful businessman and devoted husband and father he is today. Through unbelievably vivid, wild anecdotes Kennedy reveals all the dumb, violent, embarrassing, and undeniably heroic things he’s done in his life, including multiple combat missions in Afghanistan, building a school in Texas for elementary kids, and creating two multimillion-dollar businesses. You will learn that failure isn’t the end—rather it’s the first step toward unearthing the best version of yourself and finding success, no matter how overwhelming the setbacks may feel.

A little Farfetched and that read

Liked the story, was really good and really entertaining. It got a little farfetched when he was hunting Nazis and just happened to find the Shady German Bakery. And it was a little convenient that the Nazi secret hide out just happened to be an MMA gym for this UFC fighter to infiltrate.
Also, Tim needs practice reading out loud, his reading was very robotic.

Total ego maniac

Really enjoyed the book but this guy needs a slice of humble pie. Done some great things but that was overshadowed by the chronic arrogance not typical of the “quiet professionals.”

Slow clap 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼!

You will especially love this book if you were prior military, First responder (LEO, FD, EMS), Martial Arts practitioner, MMA fan, or just an alpha male. But I can’t see anyone not licking this book.
He’s pretty raw with his story growing up, past failures/accomplishments from personal life, military/SF career, MMA fighter, sex trafficking stings, Afghanistan pullout rescues.
It’s probably one of the best military vet book that doesn’t come off overboard cocky and lame. It’s very humbly told. So glad he chose to read the book himself instead of hiring someone else. For some people it’s better to have someone else read your book, but this was t the case. He did it very well. I liked it so much I went ahead and bought the signed hard copy version as well.

Absolute Beast

Well, after listening to this guy’s life I am glad people like this exist. Also, my life seems über/super boring now. My great achievement is finishing a Netflix series compared to Kennedy. But I can also sit still for hours at a time, so there.

As a speaker, I know this guy is awesome. His narrator cadence was just choppy compared to his normal.

I have not been able to listen to or watch anything else besides this book for the past 2 days. Great book, inspiring book. TK is like the real life Captain America, and that’s pretty f’n cool to know people like this exist.
