“Winners make history.”—Kevin McCarthy

Make no mistake: modern information warfare is here and January 6th was just the first battle. That day, an unhinged mindset led to an attack on the Capitol, the most serious assault on American democracy since the end of the Civil War. And that thinking portends even darker days ahead.

In The Breach, a former House Republican and the first member of Congress to sound the alarm about QAnon, Denver Riggleman, provides listeners with an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at the January 6th select committee’s investigation. Riggleman, who joined the committee as senior technical advisor after he was asked to help, lays out the full intent and scope of the plot to overturn the election. The book includes previously unpublished texts from key political leaders. And it also contains shocking details about the Trump White House’s links to militant extremist groups—even during the almost-eight-hour period on January 6th when the White House supposedly had no phone calls. The man responsible for unearthing Mark Meadows’s infamous texts shows how data analysis shapes the contours of our new war, telling how the committee uncovered many of its explosive findings and sharing revealing stories from his time in the Trump-era GOP.

With unique insights from within the far-right movement and from the front lines of the courageous team investigating it, Riggleman shows how our democracy is balanced on a knife’s edge between disinformation and truth. Here is a revelatory peek at the inner workings of the January 6th committee and a clear-eyed look at the existential threats facing our republic—and a blueprint for how America can fight to survive the darkest night before the dawn.

Thank you for showing such courage!

There are many who were not happy about this book being written, but hearing the view from someone who is not full blown left or right is refreshing and much appreciated. Coming from a more neutral source is more believable. Most of the facts in this book were new to me, giving me a whole different outlook on the committee investigating the Jan 6th disaster and the parties involved in the ongoing attempt to destroy our democracy.

Excellent

Every democracy loving American needs to read this book. There’s work to be done in God’s loving way for our brothers and sisters who have been molested into the cult of right wing Christianity. This book shared many details around Jan6 and hope.

Could not stop listening!

The detail, the data parsing intelligence, the meshing of cult behavior with reality and expanded details on those who conspired to overthrow our nation in subservience to a demagogue, it is an impressive book.

Fills in some important blanks

Lively well-narrated tale of the J6 Committee's use of OPSINT and network analysis to get a picture of many dimensions and players in Trump's attempted coup. For those not paying obsessive attention to what internet sleuths have been uncovering, the chapter on how serious the potential was for Trump to authorize the Flynn/Powell plan for military intervention to seize voting machines will be an eyeopener. He's also excellent on how "information warfare" is the right way to frame Trump's ability to get as close as he did to overturning the election, and how it hasn't let up. The natural limits on a Congressional investigation, by comparison with a DOJ criminal investigation, to compel disclosure or cooperation have constrained how much the analytical techniques described by Rigglesman can uncover. Hopefully DOJ has set up a data analysis system like the one Rigglesman helped the Committee build to exploit the devices and records DOJ is obtaining via warrants. Rigglesman's story of what his team was able to uncover suggests a number of troublesome areas ripe for further DOJ digging.

Follow the Data

Data is factual. Disillusionment breaks apart on faulty lies. Misinformation has griped Americans into unreality.

Context That All Must Experience

A book of historical importance. A full blown “Butterfly Effect”. Proof that small ideas, given the right conditions, can feed & grow into the chaos that has turned all of our heads.
