Publisher's summary

22 Arcana cards. 22 young assassins. May the best hand live. Introducing The Arcana Chronicles from number one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole.

She could save the world - or destroy it.

Sixteen-year-old Evangeline 'Evie' Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future - and they're still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can't do either alone.

With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can't totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?

As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But ii's not always clear who is on which side....

Pretty Good!

I LOVE Kresley Cole's IAD series... I mean, I think ANYONE here does :) Definitely more PG, but the story surely did capture me. Loved the performances by the narrators. They truly brought the story to life. On to the next to see the next chapter of Evie's story... and evolution.

Love Kresley Cole, HATE Emma’s narration

I just cannot her behind Emma Galvin. She does good with some things, but she absolutely BUTCHERS the French accents😭😭 which are a large part of the MMC’s dialogue.

Couldn’t put the books down!

I first read the books. Liked it so much after a year I got the audible version so I could listen as I walked. This Book gets you hooked on the first couple of pages. Love the narrators voice. Easy to listen to.

I sympathize with the hermit

I’ve listened to this story 3 times, and have come to realize I always anticipate the ending most, because it is what draws the reader the most. The story Evie tells just isn’t riveting until the very end.

My favorite series 😍❤️🥰

This is my second time listening, and I have never read a book or listened to a book more than once. I think that says it all. Amazing narration, amazing dialogue, amazing characters, amazing plot, amazing storyline, so many intricacies, and details! I have to re-listen to the entire series, so that I can finally reach the end, which I have been waiting years for. Listening to this again, was completely worth it, I was just as hooked as the first time picked up all of the little things I missed before. I can’t recommend this enough.

LOVED IT!!!!!

I absolutely LOVED this book. I actually read it and then decided I wanted to hear it too. It was that good. Girl is considered nuts but is actually seeing the future, tied into tarot cards she is one of the good cards and to save the world must find the other cards (people) and destroy them. It did get a little slow and repetitive at times but it's all building to a huge tie in. Unfortunatley there are going to be sequels to wait impatiently for but if the author continues as strong as this first book it will be well worth it.

Surprising

I picked this book on a whim not expecting much more than you're typical YA novel. You know, girl meets boy, personal reasons keep them from working together even though they both secretly want it. What I found was an immersive tale about a world of adventure and self discovery. The romance is still there, but at least it felt slightly more driven by events in the story rather than lame teenage angst. I recommend this book not to people who search for their next dystopian fix, but for people who enjoy interesting characters and the unfolding of a universe unlike any other I have experienced. Going into this book, I knew absolutely nothing about tarot, but I found the use of it to be fun and new. Solid story and great narration with entertaining characters.

Loved it!

What made the experience of listening to Poison Princess the most enjoyable?

The story was well written and left suspense, I hate when I can tell what is coming in the story line, but this definitely had its twists and turns.

The narrator, Emma Galvin, does a great job at narrator, so much so that I chose to read another book because she is the narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jackson, because he seems to be more defined as a character, plus, love those cajun boys.

What does Emma Galvin and Keith Nobbs bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Keith Nobbs makes his character so creepy, you can feel the disgust roll down you.

I love that Emma Galvin doesn't make "fake" voices and is just a natural.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it was. It was done way too soon and was disappointed to find out that there aren't anymore out in this series yet.
