Publisher's summary

Kennedy Bennett comes from a long line of curse weavers. For centuries, her family has plied their trade in Unstable, Massachusetts, an unconventional small town that's welcomed paranormal practitioners since the dawn of spiritualism. Kennedy has recently struck out on her own, opening an antiques shop in Boston, where her specialty is uncursing and reselling hexed objects.

Then Aiden Connolly walks into her life with an offer she really should refuse. The scion of a wealthy family of luck workers, Aiden has a scheme to get his hands on the most famous cursed object of all: the mythical Necklace of Harmonia. He's not the only one after the necklace, though. And he's not the only one looking for a curse weaver to fix it. Kennedy's sisters are kidnapped, and she finds herself plunged into the underbelly of the magical world where even Aiden is in over his head.

A thinker's book with a great ending ...

This was quite a book; I need to say I think it could have used a little editing, it did drag a bit in the middle, but it has the most exquisite second half .... really a gorgeous, complex, intricate well written second half, like the author had gotten into her stride, and was really having fun after spending quite a bit of time in the first half setting up the circumstances. Well, we've all had that experience, finding our way into a new project. The second half of the book is filled with the most marvelous characters, and a really delightful, and intriguing, perspective on the Greek/Roman Gods, as immortals, rather than as divinities ... I love this new perspective, I felt it slip right in to fill questions I'd been mulling on for years. And the curseweaving, that's an integral part of this book, weaving and unweaving.

As for characters, this author has a talent for fleshing out her characters and their motivations. Hanging out with Aries, the God of War, while he's drinking a beer, and wearing a henley and jeans, yes, that's a visual I won't soon forget. And his daughter, Havoc, well, she's well named and rips a wide swath of trouble thru this book.

Finally, the three sisters who are the focus of the book, the sisters who can unweave curses, such well drawn personalities. They all find themselves in various traps set by the old Gods, like pawns in a game between the Gods, and the sisters must rely on their curse-unweaving abilities to get themselves free.

I especially loved the ending ... thank the Gods, old and new, that it wasn't a cliffhanger. There's a very satisfying ending, that leaves open potentials and possibilities for some of the characters in the book to have involvement in the next book, but, in all, the ending is very full and satisfying.

I'm buying the next book, which, past selecting the number of stars, is the best rating I can give any book in a series.

A Quick and Fun Read

While this wasn't my favorite of Kelley Armstrong's works, it was a quick, fun read with some interesting world-building. A nice little brain break of a book after a stressful week of finals. Some of the characters fell a little flat for me, and it took me at least half the book to warm up to the main character, but I was definitely invested by the end. I will definitely be checking out the sequel.

As for the narrator: she was good! No real complaints, and it was easy to listen to.

Very entertaining and voice actor did a great job

This book was cute. I like the references to the Greek gods, also I think the voice actor did a great job. I was very entertained and it was pretty great. I will read the next one.

Reacquainted

I have read her previous books. it had been such a long time though that I completely forgot. it was nice to get reacquainted to her stories. Easy but not boring to follow. Looking forward to my next read by her.

Fun, fabulous, Armstrong at her Best

A great start to a new series of fun urban fantasy with strong women. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book. I feel as much joy as when I first read Bitten back in the year it was published.

Fantastic

The story was well-paced, without the frustrating and—dare I say—absolutely stupid tropes that leave me wanting to throw my book across the room. People behaved like people. The heroes were flawed and yet completely endearing. The performance transported me Thoroughly to the world Kelly Armstrong wove. Overall, it was a great short read, and I’m looking forward to picking up the sequel.

Imaginative story!

Interesting story, fairly unique, the magic of this world is a bit underwhelming so far. The story really dragged in places. I found myself wishing I was reading the book, so I could skim pages. Narrator was pretty good. Although sometimes there’s no difference in her voice from one character to the next and you can’t tell when the MC is speaking out loud or to herself.
