Publisher's summary

When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?

But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid's life is far less exotic. At least there's her day job at a local bookstore - free books; all the white chocolate mochas she can drink; and easy access to best-selling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, a.k.a. He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can't.

But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle's demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won't help because Georgina's about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny....

Different

To be honest, I really haven’t decided if I enjoyed this book or not. It’s definitely not my usual fare. It’s about a succubus that is sexually active but has one she truly loves. The first half of the book deals with her relationships and how her Succubus nature affects them all. At times, I seriously considered to stop listening but there was something in the story that compelled me to continue on. It’s going to be one of those stories that sticks with me. The second part deal with those that surround her and their intent toward good or bad. Surprisingly, based on the nature of the heroine, there’s not a whole lot of erotica. A few brief scenes that are not chapters long. The whole book is a combination of sadness and hope. The mystery that surrounds her is not complicated, I was able to determine the bad guy almost immediately. However there were a few twist and turns. Ms. Rodgers did an excellent job of narration. There was a brief musical intro as she began the narration.

A great story

Well written story, tho anything from Richelle Mead is captivating. Love the adult story writing, was wondering how she would go from YA but this was gold.

Fun, if not super deep

I usually try to listen to books that have some depth or meaning. I listen to a lot of history and some fantasy/ fiction, but even then I usually look for something with some depth.

This book has almost zero depth, but it is sheer fun.

The characters are very relatable and the book was a lot of fun.

Minor spoiler alert:

all you need to note to understand this book is that there is a large series in which an angel and a succubus watch Netflix together on her couch in a Seattle apartment. The author makes that very believable and lots of fun.

Really enjoyed

I really liked how this book manages to weave sexuality into the core narrative without falling into traditional genre narratives such as will they won’t they or enemies to lovers

Wonderful

This book had it all. Suspense, danger, romance, and beauty. Also, the narrator seems to have been born for this role. The narration was wonderful.

Filled with quirky characters & lots of laughs!

I truly forgot how much I love this series! It was even better in audio!

Georgina Kincaid is not what you expect of a Succubus. She has a day job at a local bookstore. She loves to read but will only allow herself five pages a day. She refuses to go after good guys even though they feed her better than the semi lost souls she chooses. Basically, she has a moral compass even though her best friends work for the side of evil.

When fellow workers for hell start dying or getting beat up, Georgina feels the need to find out the truth about what is really going on. Her poking around may just get her killed.

Filled with quirky characters, great dialog and a different take on paranormal. A little sizzle and a lot of laughs!

Exceeded Expectations

I've been a fan of Mead's work for many years now, mainly of her Vampire Academy series and Bloodlines spin-offs. I was vaguely aware of this series, and finally picked it up. I have never been so glad to do so. It's a refreshing change from her YA novels that-while still good-cater to a younger audience. Succubus Blues is spicier and-in my opinion-more emotional than those books. If you liked Vampire Academy or Bloodlines but wanted something a bit more adult, this book should be on your list.

I loved it.

I didn’t expect too much when I started listening. I got the book a while ago and forgot that this was the same author as Vampire Academy (a long time fave). As a Seattle native, I loved it.
