Publisher's summary

Bryan Jenson is a former Marine who's been running from his past. When an acquaintance comes to him with a job, he takes it. He doesn't care about the pay or the job specifics. He just wants to escape the nightmares.

But in trying to run from his past, he runs into an even more terrifying nightmare when he and four others journey into the Rift Plains - a dimension connected to hundreds of other worlds. His party is overwhelmed, and Bryan is taken prisoner.

Now, he must team up with an archangel who has lost more than half her power and a low-level succubus to escape, get back at the woman who captured him, and defeat the Dungeon Master of this unknown world.

Nice Story

This is a pretty good story. A good start to this series with potential. Unique story to a fantasy story.

Started Slow and Built well.

Narrator needs work on his voices but it’s not terrible. Interesting choice on world building, I dig it.

good story

I thought this story was very entertaining and seems to have a clear direction. I look forward to next in series. this was my first book by the author and first by the narrator. I was pleased that the narrator has many clear distinct voices. the authors style seems smooth and fluid without leaving to many holes. thanks

Don’t get me wrong this is a good book

The only bad thing about this book is the narration especially with his woman voices, it’s so choppy like a third grader speech it’s ridiculous. The the author needs to choose a more well-versed narrator.

Other than that really good book characters a pretty decent. I can see myself definitely listening to the next book in the series hopefully not with the same narrator though just saying.

pretty good story okay narration

with these kind of books I prefer a male and female narrating team hopefully Rudy can team up with female narrator in any sequal books. Rudy needs to pick up the tempo he sounds like he doing a captain Kirk impersonation allot throughout the book and it doesn't fit.

the story was fun to listen to and the characters where good, I am looking forward to the next book.

The usual anime derived tripe.

Meh, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon. the only glaring complaint is the narrorator. I think an out of tune piano could have voiced the characters better. His voice acting is annoyingly percussive, and he is tone deaf to the variations of female voices. I question why some one would go through the trouble of hiring an actor to voice their book and then pay for... this.

Story is very cool

This is a book I read when it first came out, and really enjoyed. When The audio edition was released, I purchased and made it through less than the first chapter before I stepped away. Having nothing else to listen to, I gave it another shot. Thankfully the narrator settled down after a few chapters and actually did an ok job. The reason I say this, if anyone started listening and reacted like I did, give it till about the third chapter, and the narration turns around. The story is well worth it.

Sadly, Not Worth the Listen

I pretty much knew what I was getting into when I purchased a book about a succubus – female angel – and mortal man. I figured I could skip past the pornography and get involved in the story… However, the story did not draw me in.

Additionally, the narration was truly painful. Surfer dude, Southern Black Woman, over the top Asian accent, and let’s not forget the oppressive white man voice of Announcer Brad… It was ridiculous to the point of almost being funny.

The story itself could have gone in so many directions… That’s what I was looking forward to. Unfortunately, it was a repeatable tale of an already overburdened genre.
