Where Man Meets Magic and Machine....

The year is 2050. The power of magic and the creatures it brings have returned to the earth, and many of the ancient races have re-emerged. Elves, Orks, Mages, and lethal Dragons find a home in a world where mana, technology, and human flesh have melded into deadly urban predators. And the multinational mega-corporations that run the world hoard the only thing of real value - information.

For Sam Verner, living in the womb of the Renraku conglomerate was easy, until his sister disappeared and the façade of the corporate reality began to disintegrate. Now he wants out, but to "extract" himself he has to slide like a whisper through the deadly shadows the corporations cast, into a completely different world where his first wrong move may be his last...the world of Shadowrun.

Happy to have some more Shadowrun on Audible

This is one of the foundations of Shadowrun fiction: cyberpunk meets fantasy in just the perfect blend to me. While I think the character of Sam Verner can be pretty self righteous and annoying at times, this book is a must listen for Cyberpunk fans because the world of Shadowrun just shines through. It's such a cool setting. Give it a try chummers, and hopefully we’ll get more Shadowrun on Audible....

A blast from the past

I read the novel a few decades ago and it is still great. By far one of the best voice performances by the narrator that I have heard. Actually sounded as if read by a cast. Excited to start Book 2 immediately

Amazing performance of a great book

Voice actor lithely handled both genders, multiple accents, to narrate a winding tale through the world of Shadowrun.

Ready Chummer?

Alright, I will admit. I have been in love with Shadowrun for over half my life. First read the core book in 1996. Run most of the editions after that. This is a sweet breath of Nostalgia. I haven't read any of these books in almost 20 years. I still love this one. The performance in it is great. Cannot wait to get the next.

Better than the average RPG based books

Read it when it first came out & it was awesomeness for [much] younger me. Listen'd to it recently & it really holds up well. I've read/listen'd to a lot of RPG/wargame based novels & much of it is tripe that no one would read, 'cept for the setting of it. This is an actually good book, which makes it a great game based book.

Narration was good, rushed at points, which sometimes muddled the distinctions between characters. But nothing untoward, egregiously bad.

I'll dive back into Book 2 sometime soon!

Best introduction to the Shadowrun universe.

This book is hands down one of the best introductions to the massive world of Shadowrun. It's an origin story of a major player in the world that also introduces the reader to major points of the fantasy noir cyberpunk dog eat dragon world of one of the best cyberpunk worlds to date.
The narrator is also superb. Little touches bring the world to life. The acting isn't too heavy or too light. All in all, great purchase.

Amazing tale from the sixth world.

Every time I got my credit from Audible the first thing I looked for was Shadowrun books. Now that they are finally here I look forward to hearing every story the Shadows have to offer.

Fantastic story and great voice acting.

I initially read this when I got the book, the voice acting for it took it to a whole new dimension and made the repeat time of the story fully enjoyable and new.
