Excellent tool, bought it for a friend, and indeed got me out of the trap of alcohol. Alcohol companys should be scared of this book
It's not the chemical itself that addicts you its the belief that it gives you genuine pleasure that does! any false belief can be dispelled with the right information and this book has just that.
it was too repetitive and the whole book makes the assumption that you have never analyzed your drinking
The author harps on how drinking tastes bad and we trick ourselves into acquiring the taste. He acts like this is some huge revelation. Anyone struggling to quit drinking knows it is bad for you. It does a good job of showing that there are no real benefits. I think this approach works better for smoking.
Also, there really isn't much science to this book. He says some things that are flat out incorrect. Most people reading this book are probably more borderline alcoholics, but I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who has really struggled with serious addiction. If you are a social drinker who maybe has gone too far ... this book might help.
I couldn't imagine a weekend without drinking. It was one of my biggest wishes to stop, but I could not get my self to do it as hard as I tried. After reading Easy Way, I have found the solution that I have been searching for all this time. Absolute must read for anyone struggling with a drinking problem.
I didn't have a problem (I thought). I may have had a hangover a couple times a week. Sometimes (3 or 4 times a week), I shared a nice bottle of wine. I never planned to wit. But I have. Easily. Since then, I've been the most joyous and happy since my youth. Thank you, Allen Carr.
This method IS the "key" to freedom. This book and Kevin O hara are the people that pushed me over the fence.
The book teaches to you look at alcohol as a poison as opposed to anything positive. It is a poison so it's not really in dispute. I liked the examples of when we first tried alcohol - you hated it, it was rancid, you wanted nothing to do with it. But for whatever reason we forced ourselves to drink it and viewed it in a positive light. As a result your body got used to it and you feel deeper into the trap.
Personally the book caused me to change the way I think about alcohol and as a result I have cut out about 90% of my alcohol consumption. I will still have a drink on social occasions if I want to but it's not anything I think about. I didn't read the book to be abstinent but I could easily be and not really care about it at this point. Great book.
No I would not. this book seems to repeat several things found in the "Big book"
There is better sources to help with alcohol addiction and withdrawal. look into Craig Beck or David Norman. They helped me.
I can see how alcoholics stopped drinking after reading this book. People who don't quit haven't really understood the book , understanding the book and its message is something you've never heard before about drinking , be prepared to be shocked as the story twists. I myself have told all my friends I have stopped drinking after reading this , will it last? Only Time will tell .. I believe it will. I'm free. Come into this book as skeptical as you want.
thank you for taking the time to promote an opportunity for people from all walks of life to understand the metal trap alcohol consumption creates and also the opportunity to open mindedly evade the schizophrenia of a perpetuating cycle
"Very effective, although could do with some modernisation re comparisons"
I never would have believed how effective this book could be.
You need to stay open minded and bits are a little out of date, but I am completely in control of my drinking now. In fact, I haven't had a drink for over a month (I was a daily drinker) and not had one craving or withdrawal, despite continuing a full social life.
Good luck to the next reader, I hope Mr C works as well for you x
Excellent, completely changed the way I view alcohol. Requires an open mind. Good narrator throughout.
I was a bit cynical but wanted to quit and I thought I would give this a go. I have been drinking heavily now for 15 years (7-8pints a day easily) and after listening to this audio book I have completely stopped now for 2 weeks.
He understands the issues and unravels them with emotional intelligence and IQ
This guys talent was to clearly understand and articulate a map through what I did not think was possible and take me out of the maze I was trapped in. Easily the audiobook that will have the biggest impact on my life.
Thank you Allen only wish I could thank you in person
Good book that stops the brainwashing of alcohol within, society and the media. Recommended highly for those who want to control their alcohol.
So far this method has vastly improved my life. I now no longer drink or smoke and can enjoy life oh so much more!
Can't recommend this enough!
This book is written for alcoholics which I am not but there's useful information nevertheless for those like me who are thinking of quitting to help in weight loss efforts
