    "This is a good READ."

This wonderful book shines a light on the fact that intelligence, that is "book smarts," is just one component of what contributes to a person's overall success in life. Pursuing qualities such as self-esteem or persistence will make you more effective in your work, as well as bring more joy into your life. He gives you sound examples of how to cultivate areas in your own life, so you are not just reading about how it "should" be.

That said, the narrator starts off well reading this book. He is engaging and fairly easy to listen to. However, at the points when he needs to share the quotes of a variety of people, he uses a strange and almost comical variety of voices and it does not work well. I became so annoyed with this over-acting, that eventually, I had to skip through it. It is truly awful.

I had read the book, and just wanted to reiterate the information more clearly in my mind as I drove. Reading the book is worth the effort!

    "Great information presented well"

I’ve seen this book many times in various books stores, yet I had no interest in it. Then one day I was lead to it and bought it. I found the information quite useful at this point (2014) in my life. I’m going through a period of looking at how I’ve been conducting myself and the direction my life has been going. I found the techniques here and on the website after taking the EQ test very useful in my growth. I found ways to stop sniping at people and ways to work through issues with people. I’m finding the book very useful and condensed many other books I’ve read into one easy reference material. I have this in paper form as well as digital and I hand it out to people to read now. I recommend it to anyone looking to change or enhance their relationship skills.

"You need to have access to an online tool"
What disappointed you about Emotional Intelligence 2.0?

It is after you buy the book that you realize that you need access to the online assesment tool. It's been a week and no code has been provided so far. I've just called Customer Service to see if I will receive the promised access.Unless you get tested through the online tool, the audiobook is useless.

    "Agonizing"
Would you try another book from Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves and/or Tom Parks?

    No

Has Emotional Intelligence 2.0 turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I don't believe others would be this shortsided

What didn’t you like about Tom Parks’s performance?

The interviews with individuals was not helpful. The worst part was the male reader speaking in a feminine voice. This is not a child's story book and it only took away from the content.

    "Good content. Distracting (misogynist?) reader."
Would you be willing to try another one of Tom Parks’s performances?

No. Very weird choice to mimic gender-specific voices in the book. I would understand if this was fiction, but this was very distracting. It was like Foghorn Leghorn was reading the book to me...

"If you are living on this planet, read this book"
Would you listen to Emotional Intelligence 2.0 again? Why?

I have several times and I own the hard copy.

What other book might you compare Emotional Intelligence 2.0 to and why?

Goleman's Emotional Intelligence and Primal Leadership

What did you learn from Emotional Intelligence 2.0 that you would use in your daily life?

Take the assessment and work the online goals.

    Any additional comments?

This should be a must read for every business professional. Too many people have no clue regarding the major areas of emotional intelligence: self awareness, self management, relationship management and social awareness. This book proves that YOU can control your reactions to events in your life and you can enhance your skills within the four domains.

"I have trouble listening to this guy..."
What did you like best about Emotional Intelligence 2.0? What did you like least?

It is such a turn off to listen to the male narrator fake a female voice when quoting a woman who has responded to a personality profile question regarding a coworker. If he's quoting a male coworker, he takes on a cowboy drawl and lowers his voice an octave. It's really bizarre.

Would you be willing to try another one of Tom Parks’s performances?

    no

    "too boring to listen to"

I just could not engage with the reader's voice. I think this is one that is better read than listened to.

    "No Passcode"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I needed a Talent Smart Passcode to access a test for class. I was expecting one to come with the audio version of the book because it is included in the traditional hard copy.
