Publisher's summary

How would you like to be calmer, less distracted, more productive, and more content at your job? You might think it would take more hours in the day, a better boss, more support, less interference, a shorter commute - and the list goes on. Most of the things we think would help are either not in our control or simply not realistic. But there is one thing we can do to achieve the qualities we seek, and it can be done invisibly and often: meditation.

Meditation? Can you imagine meditating at work? Who has time for that? Real Happiness at Work will show why you don't have time not to do it.

Sharon Salzberg has identified Eight Pillars of Happiness in the Workplace. They are: balance, concentration, resilience, integrity, meaning, connection, compassion, and open awareness. With short, subtle meditations to use pre- or post-meeting, in coping with unreasonable people, in finding meaning in seemingly meaningless tasks, and for dealing with mistakes, Real Happiness at Work will provide what we all seek - happiness - and what we all need - peace and productivity.

Phenomenal

This is an incredibly powerful help to achieving equanimity and happiness at work. I listened to it a second time immediately upon finishing the first.

inspirational and totally useful

I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was able to put the topics of this book into immediate use at work. Having the meditations separated out into their own chapters was brilliant! I have listened to many books that describe meditations, yet give the listener no space in which to make use of them. Because I was able to bookmark individual meditations, this audiobook will be supremely useful to me in the future and I'm sure I will return to it time and time again. Sharon Salzberg communicated the topics of this book with a kindness that was palpable, in an easy going and simple to understand flow. I recommend this book for anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed in the workplace, under appreciated in the workplace, and anyone who has ever felt like they just don't fit in. I felt all that and more; this book provided the help I needed to lift myself up. My purpose, my path, my hopes and my future are clearer because of the Insight Meditation I've begun. I am certain that you will find the tools in this book as useful as I did. May you find peace on your journey

Life changing concepts!

So glad that I listened to this! Not only was the message life changing but by listening I was able to practice the meditations without the distraction of reading the words. I will definitely be checking out more titles by this author.

This was a fantastic book!

I have been struggling at work allowing it to effect me negatively from anger, stress, caught up in drama. It wasn't who I wanted to be! Sharon's book really opened my soul and I would recommend it to anyone that works!

I like the content, not the narrator

This book has excellent content, but the narrator (author) voice is so terrible and unemotional and downright droll that it makes listening impossible, I can't finish this book, wish I could get my money back, what a shame, what a mistake by the author

Good content. Lacking Performance.

Would you try another book from Sharon Salzberg and/or Sharon Salzberg?

Yes. I am intrigued enough by the content of this book that I would try another one of her books. But I might buy paper copy instead.

Would you be willing to try another one of Sharon Salzberg’s performances?

Sharon is way too monotone to read this book. It was hard to follow punctuation and chapter headings, as her tone never shifted.
