New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Larry Correia sets this gritty urban fantasy, a sequel to Hard Magic and Spellbound, in an alternate noir 1930s. A tough P.I. battles an interdimensional monster that wants to suck magic power out of the world.

Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next.

Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him. The world's most capable Active, Faye Vierra, could back him up, but she is hiding from forces that think she is too dangerous to live. So Jake has put together a ragtag crew of airship pirates and Grimnoir knights - and set out on a suicide mission to stop the predator before it is too late.

Great fun BUT...

What did you love best about Warbound?

it's loads of steam punk Americana fun and the reading performance is up to par! Easy listen!

What other book might you compare Warbound to and why?

The Peter grant series. An other ''steam punk while not being steam punk'' type of books with tons of action , research, intelligence and a great performance by the reader! Less politics in the Peter grant series make it an even easier read IF... you have no trouble with a true Londoner's accent.

Which scene was your favorite?

the pace is great, every thing is good

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

surprisingly YES! some very nice, very human moments...

Any additional comments?

Great fun, it's loads of steam punk Americana action, the reading performance is more than up to par! BUT... there is a strong smell of libertarian-ism in books written by Larry Correia. Mr. Correia is well versed in history but Making FDR into an almost neo nazi socialist hypocrite and playing out Sir Winston Churchill as a wise and peaceful man... But still... A fun, easy listen!

Spoiler -

Would you consider the audio edition of Warbound to be better than the print version?

I don't know I did not read it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I don't know... so many of my favorites were killed! I was really unhappy when Lance died. I actually cried!

Which character – as performed by Bronson Pinchot – was your favorite?

I thought he did a wonderful job with all the characters except Lady Oragami. His voice became really low and hard to hear while driving.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes I was upset at the death of Lance.

Any additional comments?

I have to say that I loved this series. I laughed, cried, was angry and riveted .... It's a great story and easy to understand and listen too. Some books in this genre have to be very descriptive with the setting because of the sci-fi element and it's hard to picture it exactly. Having this setting in the 1900's made it very easy to picture and believe. I loved the historical references!

A satisfying, all-in conclusion to Grimnoir!

Let's face it, if you've made it through Hard Magic and Spellbound, you're definitely hooked. The real question is not "will I enjoy this book," it's "will this book live up to the expectations I've set from the first two?" I'm happy (and relieved) to say that, for me, it does - and in spectacular fashion.

Not only are the stakes higher and the powers more powerful, but Correia really cleans up on unanswered questions and unvisited aspects of his world. I can't help but think Correia had the whole general plot of this series mapped out before he finished the first book - it just flows that seamlessly from the first two. We also get some more detail on some of the background characters from the first two books, which is a lot of fun.

As usual, Pinchot kills it. Just, kills it.

I don't want to say anything else specific about the plot because it really doesn't need selling. I can't say I like Warbound more than Hard Magic or Spellbound, but that's more to the merit of the first two books than any detriment to the third. It really just feels like the natural progression of one long, fantastical three-part story, just as enjoyable at the very end as it was when I first met Jake Sullivan breaking rocks in Rockville.

Correia leaves his world open for more exploration, and while the ending was very satisfying, and quite epic, I can't help but secretly hope in the back of my mind that the story of the Grimnoir will continue.

If this series makes it to the silver screen, my head will explode.

Great series

I liked the idea for magic and the pacing of the books. It also had a good ending. I would recommend these books to most people. They are a little dark and gritty, but as long as that doesn't bother you they are great.

Best of the trilogy

Man ... I absolutely loved this book. It's a must read period. It's an all around from characters to story line with spot on narrator. Man...

If I could give even more stars I would.

If you could sum up Warbound in three words, what would they be?

one word " Outstanding "

What was one of the most memorable moments of Warbound?

I could never try and just pick one moment or even just a few.

Which character – as performed by Bronson Pinchot – was your favorite?

He did an outstanding job on all of them.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Magic saves the world.

Any additional comments?

I just wish that there more books to care on the wonderful story. Well done in every way.

This has become by far my favorite book series. Memorable characters and a great story come to a final chapter in this book. The ending doesn't disappoint.
