Audie Award Finalist, Paranormal, 2014

New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Larry Correia sets this gritty urban fantasy, a sequel to Hard Magic and Spellbound, in an alternate noir 1930s. A tough P.I. battles an interdimensional monster that wants to suck magic power out of the world.

Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next.

Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him. The world's most capable Active, Faye Vierra, could back him up, but she is hiding from forces that think she is too dangerous to live. So Jake has put together a ragtag crew of airship pirates and Grimnoir knights - and set out on a suicide mission to stop the predator before it is too late.

Just incredible!

Love this Author and Narrator. I will continue to look for more from both. I throughly enjoyed all the individual characters that they brought forward, they're the kind that you look forward to hearing every time you listen to these talented people. Keep up the excellent work. Tim

Just gets better.

Would you listen to Warbound again? Why?

Yes. The performance was great and the writing is really well conceived and executed. I do not usually review books on Audible, but I had to put in a good word for this one. More please.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sally Fay Viera. Cute, cuddly and all sorts of murderous. What's not to like?

Which character – as performed by Bronson Pinchot – was your favorite?

Jake Sullivan. He does great accents and I can almost picture Jake based on this performance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely.

Best in the series so far

If you could sum up Warbound in three words, what would they be?

Epic, moving, skillful

Who was your favorite character and why?

Faye because of her innocence and power. The way she interacts with the world is awe inspiring

What about Bronson Pinchot’s performance did you like?

Bronson brings each character to life so that you always know who is speaking. He does this so skillfully that I often thought I was listening to more than one narrator

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was on the verge of tears

Any additional comments?

I have read the MHI series and this one so far and Warbound is the best book of all these.

Epic ending to the series.

I really grew to love this series. I think book one was kind of weak and disjointed in terms of writing. But you can tell in this book that the writer really grew and the vision for the series was honed in book 2. Book 3 was the icing on the cake. The grand finale of fireworks on the 4th of July. I look forward to listening to the authors other book series.

All good things...

must come to an end. The Grimnoir Chronicles have been a great ride. Larry Correia crafted a fascinating and unique take on alternative history. The narration by Bronson Pinchot has been superb.

These are the best audio books I've ever heard. Thank you Mr. Correia and Mr. Pinchot for hours and hours of enjoyment.

Outstanding Story Well Told

Correia is an outstanding and creative storyteller and Pinchot does an excellent job with so many different voices. I have truly enjoyed the trogy and look forward to hearing book 4.

Very deep contribution to the series

This book really pulled everything in the series together. The author managed to represent each character well, pull off a crazy underlying plot, and lay out some significant philosophy all without letting up on the action at all.

There is a lot to chew on here regarding authoritarianism and its tendency to start with good intentions but end up in a dreadful place.

The narrator continues am excellent job here. I especially liked his rapid fire rants of Faye's thoughts as she does her thing.

Superpowers, attitude, and action

If you love action books with flawed characters that you can relate too…… than this is your saga. I read these three books of the grim noir probably once a year and I never tire of it. Larry Correia does an awesome job of character creating. It’s one of his best works of action sequences. And I can’t say enough about Bronson Pinchot and he has storytelling abilities. He brings these characters to life.

Pinchot had a little too much fun doing this one

Being a fan of the Dresden series by Jim Butcher - and still waiting patiently for the next book - I figured I'd give this series a try. The first book was almost left in the "get to it later" category, as it was a little confusing, and took awhile to get me over the suspension of disbelief. The second book seemed to have better pacing, and now that I had some character familiarity, made a lot more sense. This book brought it all together and had several heartfelt moments with the characters that the other two were lacking, and a little less gore. The only problem was the narrator - whom I really enjoy, usually - went a little over-the-top with his performance in some areas, to the point it was distracting from the story. He REALLY got into some of the screaming scenes. Outside of the moments of overacting, the series set in an alternate reality, was good.
There is a preview of Tokyo Raider at the end of this audiobook. Quite lengthy, and interesting, but if what I surmised is correct, for the price of a complete (10+ hour) story, you'll end up buying an hour to hear the rest of Tokyo Raider. I'll pass.

Satisfying ending to the trilogy!

Where does Warbound rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I was more that satisfied with the ending to the Grimnoir Chronicles. It was definitely action packed and tied up the story nicely. I love how Correia created such a strong female character as Faye. The rest of the cast is pretty male dominated but a few other good female characters give enough balance.
