Audie Award, Paranormal, 2013

Dark fantasy goes hardboiled in Book II of the hard-hitting Grimnoir Chronicles by the New York Times best-selling creator of Monster Hunter International. The Grimnoir Society’s mission is to protect people with magic, and they’ve done so - successfully and in secret - since the mysterious arrival of the Power in the 1850s, but when a magical assassin makes an attempt on the life of President Franklin Roosevelt, the crime is pinned on the Grimnoir. The knights must become fugitives while they attempt to discover who framed them.Thing go from bad to worse when Jake Sullivan, former P.I. and knight of the Grimnoir, receives a telephone call from a dead man - a man he helped kill. Turns out the Power jumped universes because it was fleeing from a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. That predator has just landed on Earth.

Another great magic action story.

I would listen to this twice, the story is solid, first you know where you are who the players are in this post WWI saga about magic woven into the early 20th century. The writer creates a good visualization of the magic as its being used and takes you into a phone call with a dead villian and our hero Nate Sullivan, since the story is so good to that point I just went along with it, the writer earned it. I also don't usually like high violence action for long, but his action was awesome, a lightning bolt fight with such intensity that it ends the dust bowl of the 1930's. Listen to this book it must be done. I listened to the 1st book before this one and I highly recommend it too. The dark story, lightens up just at the right times with characters that don't take themselves too seriously even in a serious situation. The ending sets up the next book in the series which I will be buying as soon as it appears.

Good story, fantastic narration

This is the first time I've ever looked for books based on a narrator. Bronson Pinchot is note perfect for a 30's gangster and a southern girl both. Amazing. Can't wait until Larry writes volume 3!

Love a story that lets a Hero be a hero.

Would you listen to Spellbound again? Why?

It was a great story and promises to be be a even greater series.

What other book might you compare Spellbound to and why?

I think of it as a good verses evil series. I can't help comparing it to the Harry Dresdon books.

As good as Volume One

I was really disappointed to find out that there's a third and final book in the series. I thought it was just the two books.

This one has a very interesting twist in it. Old enemies are forced to work together against a common foe making for some wonderful interplays between the characters.

I can't wait to join the old gang again for their climactic adventure.
And Bronson Pinchot's performance is just amazing.

Wow

I thought the inter dimensional insurance agent was good but this is miles ahead. A second book in a trilogy but I had no idea what was gonna happen when I finished the first book. The narrator does a great job. I absolutely love the characters voices.

Can't wait to finish this trilogy- hope there is more to come from the series

Hang in there, it gets better!

What about Bronson Pinchot’s performance did you like?

The amazing versatility of his voice and clear distinguishing of characters.

Any additional comments?

Stick with this book! Early on in the book I was completely displeased with Bronson Pinchot's narration. It turned out I just didn't like the way one particular character spoke early in the story. (The strange speaking style for this character is described in the book, and with that in mind, was portrayed wonderfully). Once I realized it was just characterization, I was absolutely thrilled with Bronson's reading of an already good book. I enjoyed the story, and the narration really made this Audible enjoyable.

Excellent follow up to Hard Magic. Masterfully performed by Bronson Pinchot. Fantastic follow and colorful new character additions. Can't wait for book three, War Bound!

Fantastic

The narrator was good in the last book, but better in this one! The story took fascinating turns and I look forward to the next book!
