When a massive military operation fails to contain the plague of the living dead it escalates into a global pandemic. In one fell swoop, the necessities of life become much more basic. Gone are petty everyday concerns. Gone are the amenities of civilized life. Yet a single law of nature remains: Live, or die. Kill, or be killed. On one side of the world, a battle-hardened General surveys the remnants of his command: a young medic, a veteran photographer, a brash Private, and dozens of refugees, all are his responsibility-all thousands of miles from home. Back in the United States, an Army Colonel discovers the darker side of Morningstar virus and begins to collaborate with a well-known journalist to leak the information to the public...The Morningstar Saga has begun.

Some reviews of this book have said it is a collection of cliques but I couldn't disagree more. Yes it is a zombie book but it has some fresh takes on the genre and had so much potential. That is the issue however, potential not quite realized. The author had a really good idea but didn't do all his research. This lead to plot lines that just stretched the reader credulity too much. It was entertaining but not enough that I can say I will finish the series.
No boring sections. It keeps going smoothly.
We're Alive and Walking Dead
Some cha. sound alike except for the main ones. I like the General.
They are several feel good for them parts
I am a Chef and have two boys. I also have 2 accounts.
This book was a little silly and not as good as some of the other zombie books available. I will not be buying the rest of the series.
Since discovering audible, my life is richer. I live in a small rural KS community, with higher than average IQ which can be a bad combo at times. Audible allows me to be myself.
If you enjoy excellent written end of the world novels, this is not it. I would give this book a C at best. Sorry about that.
Made it 3 hours through this and decided to obliterate it from my ipod. I felt embarrassed for the narrator for having to read these lines from such a poorly written story. No character development, poor quality in all aspects. Glad i got it on sale and didnt waste a credit
I love zombie books. always looking for the next good one.
i would recommend this to any zombie fans, this is the best zombie books i have listen to. great story line. they build up each person with just the right amount of information. geting to follow two seperate groups keeps you intrested and you feel for the people who get infected. or cheer for them when the escape.
i like the idea of a high ranking military member trying to expose the danger of the morning star strain and the goverment trying to cover it up.
he did a good job with the two diffrent types of infected. made them more dangerious. not the typical bag of bones that stumbles around.
you can listen to this book all in one sitting if you have the time it is broken down in sections so you can pick back up with it when you get more time. i have listen to the book three times now.
get both of the books they are awsome and the thunder and ashes.
I'm an combat veteran, absolutely enjoyed the Characters of Sherman, Kruger, and Brewster reminded me of my narrow minded dumb-ass comrades that you can't help, but love. Too bad to here that the original writer died but looking forward to the 3rd book survivors. If you liked Day by Day Armageddon or World War Z you will love this series.
This post-zombification tale of mankind kept me interested from the first word till the epilog. I loved that I received enough backstory on the characters to get attached but not the pages of useless info you sometimes gets when authors like to read their own words. It was a quick listen that I could do in spurts while driving and met all my basic horror requirements. Give it a listen. Oliver Wyman is a personal fav narrator of mine since the MHI series!
Love excellent narrators like Ray Porter. Love the Joe Ledger series.
Audible should use this as a benchmark for future renditions of good books.
The story is good, and taut.
The enactment is Great !
Especially Gen Sherman, Pfc. Brewster, and the Canadian Denton.
On par with the Percy Jackson series.
