Publisher's summary

Dani "Mega" O’Malley plays by her own set of rules - and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the few humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks - and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin - before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

couldn't put this one down

Would you consider the audio edition of Iced to be better than the print version?

I loved this book, listened to it within a day. Moning's paranormal books (not the highlander series) are some of my favorites, they mix the raw tones and action of a Dresdon book with romance and a young perspective. My only disappointment is wondering how long I'll have to wait for the sequel, there are lots of open story lines at the end.

What other book might you compare Iced to and why?

most recently, poison princess by Kresley Cole.

What does Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It took a while to get used to the female voice but after the first chapter she was completely believable. The male voices are each distinct, great, and sexy. I'm going to look up what other books the male speaker has produced. I'm a new fan.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Fired up!

I always thought Dani to be very annoying, but after listening to her story I'm entranced. I can't wait to see what unfolds from the love triangle. I can't wait for her to get older and the story get more steamy. I'm hooked!!

Karen Marie Moning is Master of the Fae Universe!

What made the experience of listening to Iced the most enjoyable?

The Series, this story, the narration all comes together as the perfect listen. I am obsessed by the Highlander and Fae Series - and can't wait for the next book and chapter in the Dani MEGA O'Malley story. Love the way she explores a new world AWC and the teasing of various relationships.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Iced?

Too many to name and dont want to give any spoilers!

Which scene was your favorite?

Anytime the men square off and fight over Dani

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yep

Any additional comments?

To the review prude freaking out over Dani's age; Have you read the whole Series? If not, you need too, for perspective. And really, you are wigging out over a 14yr old exploring her feelings and attractions and are surprised men are attracted to her? Geez-I'm not so old that I don't remember fourteen but you must be. Yet you don't seem to mind the fact she's been carrying a sword and KILLING since age 9 and I find that interesting. I believe experiences shape a person, not their age. We all know people over 40 that lack the common sense & maturity of others at age 14 yr. In particular, a fictional girl abandoned as a child, feeding & fending for herself, facing & killing monsters, super human strength & intelligence, who was also touched by the Grey Woman (who obviously aged her)! So leave KMM to do her fictional magic and don't force her into changing directions.

Dude! Fehhking awesome!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

i would recommend this book! it is so much fun, the types of fae are creative and interesting. there is action, some humor, great tension, the narration is fantastic.

What did you like best about this story?

it is a continuation of characters from the Fever series. FANTASTIC series, you could read this book alone but there would be a little something missing, you should get the Fever series, it's worth starting there. There is significant back story, the first in the Fever series is good but they get better and better as you go, leaving you dying waiting for the next. i know this series Iced will be the same. it tied up part of the story but there is a cliff hanger at the end! Can't wait to see how Danni grows and what she'll do next!

What does Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

OMG!! SOOO MUCH! Phil Gigante's voice has been described as eargasmic...i really agree. EXCELLENT narration, Natalie Ross was very good too. you can tell the difference between all the female characters and she brought Danni's sass to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

just hungry for the next book

Any additional comments?

i do have to point out that the lead female is only 14, she has a lot of life expierience that makes her a mega awesome warrior and seem older. i was slightly disturbed by the sexual interest other characters had for her. The best part is because of her age she pretty much didn't notice the interest, especially at first, and really had no interest of her own, was more about the kicking but and beginng mega awesome, no time for funny business!! love her character.

Fabulous

I just love this book. I can't wait for the next one to come out. I love Dani in the first series and I love her in this one. The narrators for this series are fabulous also.

Wanted to Like It

This book had the potential to be really good, but it needed some serious editing. It suffers from too many teen temper tantrums that bog down the story line and serve no purpose. Also, the main narrator is terrible. I could barely listen to her. The male narrator wasn't much better, as all of the male characters sounded the same. Too bad, because there was an interesting story buried beneath all this detritus.

You go Dani

What did you love best about Iced?

I loved how Dani was featured. Her innocence and her determination to save the world. Dani is just Dani and she just makes you smile so much.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dani - she is just a joy to follow in a story.

Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This one is very well done. They know how to draw out the suspense with their voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, when Dani first saw Mac...the pain she felt when she felt so removed from her.

Why did I wait so long to get on the Moning train

I just began reading this series about a month ago, and decided that I had to listen to this book because I needed to be able to tear through it. First I'd like to say that the voice talents for this novel were great. Second, the story itself is awesome. If you've read the other novels and understand that the heroine is 14 you may get a little nervous about it being a little racy, but trust me, its done tastefully. Can't wait for the next installment and this was well worth my book credit!

good story but Dani is so annoying

Dani was so much more annoying in this story than in the previous novels. Unfortunate because the plot is good and the pacing exciting. The narration is good and I liked the narrators doing different voices for all the characters, helped keep my interest even with my annoyance of the main character. I hate cliff hanger endings but wasn't surprised when it did since I've read the other books in the Fever series.
