Publisher's summary

Dani "Mega" O’Malley plays by her own set of rules - and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the few humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks - and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin - before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

Great book! !

I love this series. It is so intriguing and the drama is nerve wrecking that I just enjoy it so much. I can't wait for Burned!!

A little juvenile but hey, that’s Dani

So I didn’t really want to continue with this series after Mac’s arc was done cause I found Dani annoying in the previous books. This book centers around Dani and yes, she’s annoying but she is only 14 so her character personality can be forgiven because of that I guess. Also, you’ve got grown men and older who are lusting after her sexually or what she can offer as far as usefulness. Yep, you heard that right, which just rubs the wrong way.

I stuck with it because you see more of the side characters from the first five books, which is great. You see how they are developing with more center roles. They’re very interesting characters, which is why I stuck around to finishing it. It’s worth a credit. But be warned. It’s either you like Dani or you don’t. I didn’t, but every other character was interesting.

Drags

The plot of the book isn’t revealed until you’re half way through. The narrator doesn’t differentiate between accents with the women so you never know who’s talking. Dani is super annoying & the story already drags so her persistent complaining doesn’t make this an easy read.

Dude, It exceeded my expectations

I loved Dani from the Fever Series (she cracks me up!) And this story did not disappoint. I mistakenly thought this was going to be a YA book - thank goodness it wasn't! Don't get me wrong, I love YA books but I think the direction KMM is going with this character is best kept outside YA genre.
This book was way beyond my expectations. After Shadowfever I didn't think there were anymore stories to be told. Glad I was wrong!
I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will just say get this book if you loved the Fever Series.
As always, Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross are amazing!!!

5 Stars!!!!!

WOW!!!!! I am in love with a new series!

I totally agree with the previous person who said that spin offs are normally not as good as the original series. THIS ONE IS THE EXCEPTION! Anyone who has read Moning knows how complex her world and her characters are, and she is writing true to form. I was totally pulled in and submerged with this new book. I acted like one of my teenagers when I heard the music at the end and realized that the book was stopping. This is totally worth your credit. I hate, hate that I have to wait for the next one!!

As Dani would say, "Feckin' unbelievable!"

Pleasantly Surprised!

I wasn't a big fan of Dani in the Fever series. I wasn't planning on reading or listening to this book, but decided to give it a shot. I am so glad I did! If you liked the Fever and Highlander series', you'll love this too. Already am dying to know what happens next!

Love the story, not the narration

What made the experience of listening to Iced the most enjoyable?

The female narrator is very hard to understand. The pitch of her voice varies a lot, forcing me to turn up the volume to hear the lower pitches. This makes the overall listening experience less than acceptable. Her use of an Irish accent also varies.

The book is so good, I bought the audio too...

I'm a HUGE fan of Karen Marie Moning and Phil Gigante's narration. I went to the signing and bought the book - but quickly succumbed and bought the audio book also and then listened to it. I wasn't disappointed. I'm not a huge Natalie Ross fan and she did the majority of the narration. But, Gigante and his grasp of different accents and the growl tones of the Alpha males in this series eclipsed it.

I was worried about Ross' narration of Dani because her tone in the Shadowfever books was very juvenille, but she did soften Dani in ICED and I was pleased with the turnout. The story is also top notch. I was also worried about how Karen Marie Moning would handle this Dani spin-off and I was pleased. KMM is a genius. Please go back and listen to the Fever series books first though. While this is a spin-off and could technically be read without partaking in Mac & Barron's story - you don't want to miss out on it. The Fever Series is on of the best Paranormal/Urban Fantasy series I've ever read.

Great followup to Fever series

Was reluctant to listen to this book, because of the main character, Dani. She wasn't one of my favorite characters from the Fever series, and didn't think I'd enjoy this book. Boy, was I ever wrong. This was a great followup to the Fever series, and seems to be left wide open for another.
I got a new appreciation for Dani, in this book, and found myself feeling sorry for the girl. It depicts a street smart teenager, with a lot of naivety yet, from only being a 14 year old. She loves Dancer, who has been a true friend and seems to have looked out for her well being for a long time. But, Dani has two other guys interested in her, as in waiting for her to grow up... Christian who is turning into an Unseelie Prince, and hates Mac because it's her fault that he's becoming Fae, and Ryodan, part of Barron's mysterious group, and nightclub owner. Ryodan, is looking for an answer to the strange icings that are killing people, and wants to control Dani in order to get her assistance. His other motives at this point seem to be unclear, other than controlling the girl, while waiting for her to age.
Dani though has one goal, and that is to rid Dublin of the Fae, and get the world back to the way it was. She wants to be independent, but cares for everyone's well being that she meets. But, the world is full of bad people and beings, that have other ideas for Dani.
