Publisher's summary

Now an Amazon top 50 best-seller!

Their names are whispers in the hallways. Hunter, Ash, Ledger, and Samson. The Kings.

Four of the most beautiful men I’ve ever seen, with cruel agendas and an even crueler reign over Ravenwood Academy.

Wreaking havoc in our small, New England town, no one asks questions. For the most part, people ignore or avoid them. After all, they’re royalty here.

Because one of them - the cruelest one - is the headmaster’s son. And my new stepbrother.

They can try to torment me. They can try to break me. But they have no idea what I’ve endured.

They’re used to getting whatever their ruthless, little hearts desire. Maybe I should keep my mouth shut. Maybe I should let them win.

But I’m not afraid of getting my hands dirty. Lord knows I’m used to it by now.

My name is Briar Monroe, and these Kings are about to find out just how f--ked up this Queen can be.

Ruthless Crown is full-length high-school bully reverse harem romance. It is book one of the Ruthless Royals duet, and while it doesn’t end with a true cliff-hanger, there are unanswered questions. Book two will be releasing in a month. It is advised to listen to them in order.

Please note: Ruthless Crown contains explicit language, bullying, and flashbacks of abuse/trauma. It also features four hot AF guys who would do anything to protect their feisty Queen. The duet will have a HEA.

Great storyline!

Love the story and male narrator… struggled some with female narration when “speaking.” Overall highly recommend the credit!

What the eff?!

I think I figured out that this book should have been an “outline” to build upon but someone said “eff it” and published it anyway.

No story building. No plot.

It’s the book equivalent of a vegan eating a whole cow 5 mins after tasting meat for the first time in a decade. Confusing… jarring… irritating… more irritating…. Just… I dunno… it seems trite.

New to me author!

This was my first series but this author and I was excited to jump into the duet now that I got both on audiobook. I kinda have mixed feelings about it but I will be checking out more books by her because some things grabbed me and I liked her writing style, I just think this was a little too clunky for me to give it more than a 3.5 stars for the story.

For me I think the almost instant change in how the guys treated her gave me a little whiplash and didnt have a smooth transition. But I did enjoy Briar a lot, she was feisty and a BA but also had trauma that effed with her showing her vulnerability and still growing from what she survived. I loved her mom and I was so happy to see her new stepdad was a good guy too! Sometimes in this kind of set up you see the step dad being a bad guy but that is not the case here. I didnt like the flaky besties with how they dumped her. I was kinda hit or miss with the guys in this one. It was hard for me to remember who was who/who had what issues because of how they were introduced I think. The overall plot was interesting and kept me interested, but the side plots were jumbled/all over the place. I knew they were added so we could learn about the guys and their past/about them, but it didnt flow/connect for me. I will say the steam was good though! I was a little confused about if some of the guys were into each other for real/loved each other more than friends and it was kinda yes and kinda no.

Narration for me caused me to round down to a 3 stars instead of up to a 4 stars. I have listened to the male narrator before and I thought he did a good job with his performances. Unfortunately the female narrator wasnt my favorite. There were some instances where she went too OTT or she her performance wasnt spot on and it took me out of the story. I would give her a 3 stars and him a 4 stars so averages out to 3.5 stars for the narrator.

I probably re-listen to this duet again, but I did go right into book 2 because I needed to know what happened haha.

Review & rating subject to change...

Was a bit too slow and too... I'm not sure honestly just felt like something was missing. It took no time at all for this book to go from bully to dang near love @ first sight which I found odd. But besides that... 😐 idk. Since this is a duet I'm going to come back to this review once I'm done the 2nd book because I'm hoping that whatever I felt was missing is found in book two & maybe that'll bring everything together but right now I'm not so sure.

Way too short

This is an extremely short book. The first and second book together would still be a shorter book. Read it on KU. It’s free there. But it is 100% not worth an audible credit.

If it was worth half a credit then I would say go for it or if they combined book 1 & 2 it would be worth the credit.
