Is there such a thing as a normal life when you live with an ancient vampire and a temperamental hellhound?
Victoria Westernly was just starting to think so. With Samhain just around the corner and the promise of a Halloween Ball, her life was looking good. Even the addition of a new master vampire couldn't bring her down.
When Victoria and Darien become the victims of a series of unfortunate accidents, they know something's up. Where there's smoke, there's fire. But, the question is, who is burning what?

This is the third book I've listened to as read by Marcio Catalano. Part him, part the editing, but i will not listen to any more books read by him, regardless of how much i enjoy an author's work. Cadence was staggeringly awkward, and at times sounded like computerized voice robo-calling me. Several words were completely mispronounced. Never again.
Too busy to read as much as I'd like, Audible is the perfect solution. I'm a romance reader mostly, but can stray into any story.
So I haven't read or listened to the first books in the series as I didn't realize I should until half way in but I was able to catch up pretty quickly and not get lost or confused.
This is definitely YA with all sex implied and it's not super dark. Very easily palatable for those who like a lighter vamp story.
Vicky has moved in with her boss and new found loved, Darien and a hellhound, Zac. She is adjusting quite nicely to her new life and the budding romance is sweet and docile. I loved listening to their relationship grow.
Then comes along new master vampire and the drama ensues! This book was fantasy, magic and paranormal gold.
It's an easy listen, I find that sometimes fantasy books get so busy with different aspects that you lose the main focus and I didn't get that distraction. It was all there for me.
The narration was great. The perfect choice for not only this genre but these characters.
