Publisher's summary

I woke from cryostasis a prisoner. My crime? I have no idea.

I was stuck with a hundred other women, all headed to who knows where. Captive in a dank, dirty cargo hold. Then, out of the darkness, came Solair.

A handsome alien. Golden skinned. Horned. The dashing captain of a pirate ship. They rescued us - he gave my people food, shelter, and promised us safety. In exchange? He took me for himself.

But the people who captured us, haven't given up. They want us back. They're powerful and will do whatever it takes to find us. The only thing stopping them? Solair.

He wants me. And what he takes...he keeps.

Contains mature themes.

Awful Female Lead

Just as the other reviewers have said, I’m struggling to finish this book. The “heroine” is ungrateful and selfish, rude, and downright stupid. I really want to enjoy the story. I’m enjoying the narration for the most part and the story plot is interesting, but I don’t think I’ll ever finish this book. Maybe I’ll try book 2 to see if that woman is at all tolerable.

Not as good as I hoped...

Usually a big fan of Athena's work, was really let down by this one. The heroine is petulant and stubborn to a fault with a need to be in control at all times. Couldn't get past her personality enough to finish the book.

Great narration. Interesting plot. Shitty heroine.

Good initial story building and plot premise. The male lead and other male characters are pretty solid and enjoyable. Narration is stellar. Could have been a great book except....Can't get past the God awful women in this book! The heroine (who is supposedly ex-military and should behave better) is selfish, spoiled, ungrateful, unreasonable and down right unenjoyable. Her uncomplimentary attitude seems to be mirrored among most of the female characters in this story. Very seriously, wish I could enjoy the book but spent most of my time angrily wishing I could slap some sense into all these ridiculous entitled bitches. I hope this isn't a common theme in the series but I'm not sure if I'm willing to find out.

I love Celia’s books but…

These women, especially the heroine had something bad happen to them of course BUT, I have never read anything with more ungrateful, rude, hateful and entitled women. I barely made it through the book because it literally made me feel ashamed to be a woman.

Interesting Concept in a Series

Good storyline, I was aggravated listening to this because I had to change the volume for each chapter. The female reader is recorded louder than the male reader, so the volume has to be adjusted accordingly for every chapter.

Throw her out the airlock!

This could have been a fun, new book and series to enjoy but the female lead is absolutely infuriating. The ship of males save the women from a dying ship and the the heroine is rude, ungrateful and very demanding. If I was on the ship with her I'd be tempted to send her out the airlock or at the very least lock her up in a waaay back room where I couldn't hear her. Unfortunately she is constantly in everyone's face bitching and whining to the point that I can't even try to grit my teeth through the rest of the book.

The horrible dual narration!

Why for the love of Audible books, if there are a male & female narrator, why do these authors have them read dual & not duet! UGH! Female narrators make the males sound like nasaly dweebs!!!!! Duet allows the reader to hear the way people really converse! It allows the reader to "see" the story unfold in their mind as if watching a movie.
Dual narration makes it sound like the males & females have multiple personalities! Real life & movies do not switch personalities!
I wish Audible would put this in the description of the book.
Thankfully this book was free!
The narrators were good when they were reading their own parts!

Toxic Feminism

The female lead is the definition of toxic feminism. I just couldn’t finish the book. She was a bitch and when the male lead confronted her she expected him to apologize for calling her out on her ridiculous behavior.

Ignoring Female Lead

Listen I’m a girls girl I love women characters who are bad@ss, but this Valaria girl is sooo rude. Like yes she was kidnapped but she excepted this Solair (the captain) to be at her beckon and call. The males on the ship tried so hard to accommodate to the woman but they all were so whining and soooo ungrateful, it was insane. This story had so much potential but it was wasted. If you want to read a good alien kidnap story read Choosing Theo (it’s slow in the beginning but trust me it’s sooo good)
