Publisher's summary

Did you know one date can literally change everything?

OMG! You're going to laugh at me.

I went to a movie with my roommate's friend.

I didn't know he was gay. I certainly didn't know I was. I didn't even know it was a date.

I’m not talking about the fairy tale kind of date where bunnies fly out your butt and butterflies break into dancing and song.

I’m talking about a date where you don’t even know you’re on a date until the guy kisses you.

I nearly passed out.

I mean, not until after we got naked and . . .Over the next few years, my whole world changed. I went from never-do-anything-wrong preacher’s kid to a wild child sowing his oats. Man, I loved oats . . . or men . . . if men were oats.

This series is my story. You might find it hard to believe, but it’s all true. It’s also hilarious and heartwarming and sad (but only in spots) and uplifting . . . Did I mention funny? It’s really funny.

Check it out. The complete series is more than 1,200 pages. You’re going to laugh your hiney off!

Raised by Wolves is Michael's story, a classic, 5-book series that follows his life over decades of searching, finding, and losing love. It mirrors Michael's journey, beginning with simplicity, a single date, and grows in depth and complexity as his life evolves and changes. And yes, there is plenty of naked goodness.

Michael's tale is one of found family, hurt/comfort, new experiences, intimate moments, remarkable innocence and growth, self-deprecating humor, and most of all, boundless love.

This series will move you to tears, both in laughter and sorrow, while warming your heart in ways few stories ever will.

NOTE: Raised by Wolves is not a shifter series. There are no shapeshifters, and no one was raised by actual wolves. Rather, this is an American idiom referring to people who were raised in an extremely conservative, religious household. No wolf was harmed in the making of this series.

This is the author's true story.

loved this journey

Michael's journey (or adventures) to finding himself, his truth, the life he wants to live, what he will leave in the past and the love of his life made for a very interesting, funny, sad and ultimately uplifting story.

It was definitely different from other series I've read, following one person from a young age to maturity but I absolutely loved it.

Jon Curtis is one of my favourite narrators and was the perfect choice for this series.

Not a shifter romance

This series is the telling of the author’s life story. I like how he explains how things worked in the past. Like dial up! Whereas I knew what he was talking about there are some that don’t. It brought humor into the story. In this story the author starts with his first date and first look into liking someone of the same gender. In the next books we get deeper into how he comes out and accepts his role. There are struggles especially being raised by a part time preacher. We also see heartache and a HEA.

I will never forget this book

If you are remotely on the fence, wondering if this is worth a credit, this is the easiest decision you will ever make on Audible. I finished the audio book, and immediately bought the box set, because I want my teenage son to read this series, and teenagers have to read the physical books, it's a rule, so sayeth this mom.

To say I loved this series would be a gross understatement. I spent the last 3 and a half hours with tears leaking out of my eyes, some devastated and some from hysterical laughter, and others somewhere in between. I gave up, took my contacts out, and surrendered to the emotions. Thank you, Casey Morales. It's not often I come across a book that I immediately need my teenager to also read, in fact it has never happened, and we are both big readers. I have also never felt the need to speak directly to an author in a review, so you are popping all of the literary cherries today. Thank you.

Disclaimer, for the skeptical: For what it is worth, I haven't been paid, given a promotional copy, or otherwise been seduced by something free, and I am not even a little bit of an "influencer", and I have never been fortunate enough to meet the author. I accidentally stumbled upon this series on Libby, from the Los Angeles Public Library, two weeks ago. I checked out books 1 and 2, and 1/4 of the way through My Accidental First Date, I returned the books to the library (they don't have numbers 3, 4, and 5, yet.), and turned to Audible. I was sucked in by the references to my life, the author and I are a similar age, and he is Tennessee while I am Oklahoma. It's basically the same thing, this many years out of the Bible belt. I laughed so hard, I cried, and then I really got invested in this amazing retelling. It's 12-ish hours since I wrote everything above "Disclaimer", and my eyeballs are still leaking really happy tears.

Educational autobiography!!

An educational autobiography that everyone can learn from! A series mixed with equal parts humor and heartache, the realistic journey to finding happiness at the least expected time, took me through so many emotions. The way Casey wrote this piece shows just how positive of a man he truly is, always taking his failed attempts as a lesson and finding the humor in every situation. I am genuinely happy that you were able to find your forever person in “Heath”, and wish you both nothing but happiness for all the years to come!

Laughter & Tears

This was a great book which kept me entertained for all 21 hours. It brought on all the emotions, from laughter to tears. My heart was broken and put back together several times. I wanted to yell at Michael so many times for the choices he made, but had to remind myself that this was real life, and we don't always make the smartest choices. I would think it would be hard to find the right voice for a memoir, but the narrator was the perfect choice for this book. It truly sounded like his real story. So glad I listened to this one, and I've added a couple more of Casey Morales's books to my TBR pile.

Funny and touching story

Growing up very religious, it was very easy to connect with the main character. I was also oblivious to the gay world and made mini, minis mistakes.

I didn’t mind the author talking directly to the reader. It took a little getting used to, but it fits the story.

I look forward to reading more of Casey Morales for years to come!

2 thumbs up

This autobiography was heartbreaking, funny, and sexy, and I fell in love with the storyteller.
The narrator was okay, though I would have been happier without the fake laughter.
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Emotional

Being a child of the 70’s & 80’s and being a “Connie like friend” to boys I grew up with, who like me where raised catholic only to be tossed out on their asses for being bisexual or gay, I heard their similar stories in these books.
Many of those friends are no longer with us, many more drifted away never to be heard from again, I hope with all my heart & soul that they found their HEA like Michael & Heath.
hank you Casey for telling your story 💜

Just go with the bundle

Honestly I love bundles for a multitude of reasons but there are some that you just need to do that way and this is one of them. I honestly found this author through a freebie of Winning his Vote a newer series of his I suppose then saw one for the first of this series, it was a short one and I enjoyed the other so I went for it and was sucked in then I saw this bundle and knew it would be worth the credit and I was not wrong at all. I loved the way the story was told and I truly felt it all right along with Michael. The only thing I wish was that for the last part, there was so much time spent with Ryan and yes it needed to be but then I think we were all short changed on Heath, Though after the epilogue I did understand why that might have been kept a little less detailed but still after all the ups and downs and pure heartbreak of Ryan I really would have loved to feel that happiness when we finally get to meet Heath and Michael opens his heart back up. Overall a wonderfully told story with a good narrator.
