Publisher's summary

I Hear You follows the journey of Tyler, a devil-may-care, party boy mechanic who loves his job, his friends, and his faithful dog, but the thought of settling down is the last thing on his mind.

That all changes when he meets Gabe, an adorably dimpled, floppy haired deaf man who challenges him in ways he never imagined.

As Tyler starts to fall for Gabe, he realizes his carefree lifestyle may be holding him back from true happiness.

Will he be able to overcome his past and embrace love, or will his desire for freedom and the lure of the party scene prove too powerful?

This heartwarming and steamy story of love, self-discovery, and second chances includes scenes of hurt/comfort, found family, and the cutest doggone puppy love. It is a must-listen for M/M romance fans.

Note: This story includes use of multiple substances.

Good addition

This is a good addition, if a little sad. I was slightly disappointed with the ending I wish there was a little more resolution with the friends and felt like after such a build up it just kinda rushed there at the end. I loved the characters and most of the storyline. The author has a great way of dealing with heavier/sensitive issues in a light and serious way all at once. The narration was fantastic.

Appreciated representation 🫶🏽

There are no words for this representation of the deaf community in this enduring understanding of disabled citizens! The struggles to which this community become accustomed to is truly terrifying and heartbreaking. But the awareness brought by Casey is heartfelt and eye-opening!

I relished my initial experience with this narrator, but there is not enough praise given to Dan Levy for his remarkable effort put into this masterpiece! I felt every emotion from both characters, the sad ones, the frustration, and the admiration felt. The growth Tyler made was heartwarming and deserving for Gabe.

I really loved this book and its characters!

I Hear You is my first read from Casey Morales and I did not read any of the books that came before in the series and was able to keep up.

The book is funny and witty and sweet, without being overly sweet or condescending, and the way that the characters grew as people throughout was lovely to read.

I've read quite a few books with disabled, and specifically deaf characters, but this was my first audiobook with a deaf character and I wasn't sure how that would be portrayed. I should not have worried, Dan Levy does an excellent job of differentiating Gabe's speech just enough that I never confused him with another character. In fact, he did a great job with all the characters (and there are more than other audiobooks I've listened to), and I was never confused as to who was speaking.

I will say that Tyler's insertion of himself and how he would feel if he lost his hearing felt a bit ableist and pitying towards Gabe; which is direct contrast as to how Gabe views his disability and talks about it. I do think that it is used to illustrate, at the end when Tyler and Gabe are together, the character growth that Tyler made on his own to accept Gabe fully, with only love.

I didn't have a problem with Tyler sleeping around before the relationship with Gabe started, and also when he continues to sleep with people after they break up for a while. He never cheats on Gabe while they are together, and I think his sleeping around is simply to illustrate that he is more immature and insecure than even he realises. It was refreshing to have characters that are sex positive and enjoys it simply for the act itself AND characters that are less experienced, but never pitied for their lack of experience.

It was a great book!

Mixed feelings....

I really wanted to like this book, but there were too many issues for me. I didnt like the overprotectiveness of the friend group, how quickly Gabe pulls away, and the fact that Tyler went back to his party boy ways.
The narration was awesome and there were plenty of funny moments.

I Enjoyed It

I enjoyed this book. I enjoy romances with a character that has some form of handicap. I've read two or three with a blind character, which I've enjoyed. This is my first with a deaf character. I really loved Gabe. He's sweet and friendly and doesn't let being deaf hold him back from anything. Tyler is a mechanic and hasn't gotten over his party-boy phase and just having fun, despite his friends trying to get him to search for something more meaningful. Spotting Gabe in a café, and later in the park, he begins to find that special someone in him. But he has to come to terms with some things. The portrayal of a deaf person was done well and respectfully through Gabe's character. He was my favorite character in this book. I also liked the supporting characters.

I listened to this audiobook narrated by Dan Levi. His voice has a bit of a gritty undertone that I didn't quite like, but he did a good job with his narration and voices of the different characters.

okay

This book was okay, but not my favorite out of this series.
Not sure exactly why, but it was not easy to relate to the characters, and I felt they were a little flat.
The narrator was okay, but I don't like the "sound effects", and it was a little difficult to remember which POV it was in each chapter.
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Good Story

This is another good book in this series. While it wasn't my favorite so far, I did enjoy it very much. The audiobook for this one had me enjoying the story even more than when I read it.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Nice addition

I really liked the characters of Gabe & Tyler, the hurdles they faced, but it all ended in a kind of rush at the end.
The other books in the series (which I listened to out of order unintentionally) felt more complete and full in comparison.

Tyler and Gabe’s story

I love love love Tyler and Gabe’s story. I read this series out of order and hadn’t realized Tyler’s story was out. They are probably my favorite couple in the Nashville Spicy series. Tyler was a playboy and liked to have a great time. He met Gabe’s eye at a coffee shop one day after work. The couple faces many challenges the most challenging be that Tyler is hearing and Gabe was deaf. When Gabe’s friends questions Tylers motives Tyler decides he needs space. When Tyler and Gabe finally decide it’s time to meet again. Gabe sees Tyler with an old flame and walks away. They reconnect at a friends (Sam & Miguel) wedding. Finally communicating they start over and even visit Gabe’s family.
