Publisher's summary

"We are all monsters here...."

Celestine is a land of beauty and horror where the heroic souls of men are tempted to fall from heights mere mortals were never meant to attain.

Terrence Mack has managed to survive in this brutal world, gathering bonds of great power and ability, passing trials and tribulations that would crush lesser men. Yet his own unwillingness to let others share his burdens may be his undoing, and his greatest challenges are yet to come.

To even reach his destiny, Terry must once again cross the Wildervast, a dream world where desires rule fate. He must survive the machinations of the Mother of Monsters, satisfy the Mistress of Weavers, and come face to face with a man who surpasses him in every way.

His enemy has lived for thousands of years, risen to virtual godhood whilst bent on destroying the world. Terry promised to end that threat, yet the sacrifices he's made have left him vulnerable and the greatest threat to his ultimate success may lie not within the Dust Lord...but himself.

A good man!

Terrance Mack, The Boss has been through a lot, and accomplished a lot in a remarkably short amount of time. Thomas, the Dust Lord has not been idle either. His ultimate conquest of Celestine continues with the destruction of Nanjing and the subjugation of the vermilion bird Zhūquè. The army of fifty-thousand Thomas had gathered was not needed. Shadows and Dust. The power that Thomas commands is overwhelming. How will Terry ever be able to defeat such a force? Terry, Prada, Euryale, Mela, and Isdel crossed the Wildervast and entered the Seat of Devotion in the Twilight Zone. The confrontation with Thomas, along with several other minor battles, would be settled here. There is much more of the story to discover, leading to a satisfying conclusion, but I dare not reveal any more. This has been such a wonderful story, filled with happiness and sorrow, love and despair, success and failure. Tess Irondale is remarkable! The unanswered question: Why does Celestine steal souls and corrupt them?

Good man trying to be good but not knowing how

First I'm going to say Cebelius is creating a world in Celestine that is every bit as complex, wonderful, wicked, evil, and innocent as this world we live in. Tess Irondale is one of the best female narrator's out there. The reluctant hero of this story is a man who does not want to be wicked and yet believes he is and only the truly wicked believes him to be. This is not a story that you can read, or listen to in the final chapter. Start with book one and read the entire Celestine Chronicles. You will laugh, get angry, blush, and cheer for this unlikely hero who would be happier living in peace as a warrior in a garden but chooses to go to battle for a promise and the... beings he loves.

Great but different

Good storyline and voice acting, but missing most of the gratuitous romance stuff that made this series one of the better ones.

So much more than I expected!

This series was like ordering a McDonald’s cheeseburger and getting home to realize there is a New York steak with all the trimmings in the bag, and then a 5 star waiter shows up at your door to cater to you for your dinner. Seriously I was expecting a fantasy novel with a bit of sexy time and some laughs to entertain me while I cook and clean etc. but this was soooo well written and just downright amazing. I burned through all 6 books in 1 month! I want more, so much more!

A Fitting End

(LIGHT SPOILERS) A lot of the pressure on Terry Mac at the end of the last book really drives this one. The stakes are high and the entire world is at risk with the Dust Lord now actively hunting down the other powers in order to drive Celestine to its end. Our hero has only taken a few of his wives with him as well as the man-killer sword. The fight with Thomas is one that Terry Mac is so likely to be slain in that there's almost no way for him to win WITH the sword.

With writing like this, Cebelius guides us through the end of the series masterfully. I couldn't put the book down, and even though I was frustrated from time to time, I was always eager to hear what happened next.

Tess Irondale works her magic again, bringing life back to our long loved characters and the ones we come to hate. I have rarely been more satisfied with an ending to a series of books.

Beautiful

I’m not a literary critic but I know that when I get this invested in characters, tearing up multiple times throughout the series, it is wonderful storytelling. The characters spoke to me, all of them. Tess Irondale does such an amazing job that I have begun seeking out stories just because she narrates. I got so caught up in all 6 books, I haven’t watched a TV show in 2 weeks and almost got busted at work listening. My only complaint is that now I must find another story with such rich characters as quickly as I can to alleviate the sadness of this one ending. Or I may just listen again!!
