Publisher's summary

Anyone who says love isn't complicated is a dirty liar. Ask me how I know....

I used to be a normal wife and mother with a perfectly happy life. Now I'm a divorced single mom who spent a night in jail after breaking into the hair salon my ex's mistress owns.

What can I say? Not my proudest moment.

The only bright spot in that fiasco was the police officer who offered me a sexy, broad shoulder to cry on. William Bronson was a knight in shining armor. A romance novel hero in the flesh.

Then I showed up for work the next day and realized I'd be in charge of planning his fairy tale wedding...to someone else.

And that was just the start of my troubles—romantically and legally (don't ask).

Now, I need to learn how to navigate my new reality and start building my own happily ever after. I have no idea if it will all end in love...or heartache. All I know for sure is that it'll be complicated.

Love After Divorce

*Audio - Narration: I loved the female narrator for this story. She absolutely nailed the emotions behind her voice. & the male narrator for Will was very well done.

Melissa is a single mom trying to get her life back after divorce. She’s struggling to find balance in her new normal. So when she ends up in a jail cell after a girls night out she’s absolutely panicked. So Melissa does what she always does when she’s freaking out - she rambles. She rambled all about her divorce & how hard things are & how she isn’t a bad person to the officer at the station. Little does she’s about to run into that handsome officer everywhere. & things only get more complicated from there.

This was such a beautiful love story. Love after loss/divorce is such a sensitive topic & this is done perfectly. It’s messy & wild & it hurts, but dang it was so good. I did the audio & I was hooked. I wish there had been more of Williams’s POV at the beginning but I’m glad we had his POV later on it really added to the emotional grip of the story. Definitely recommend. Can’t wait for book two.

Entertaining story and narration

I enjoy single parent stories and found myself quickly invested in single mum Melissa’s story. I fell hard and fast for Officer William (Will) Bronson, he ticked all the book boyfriend boxes for me. Melissa may not be looking for a relationship but fate works in mysterious ways and after a night on the town with her friends she finds herself meeting Will in controversial circumstances.
The following day it seems that fate is continuing to play it’s tricks and their lives are about to become more complicated than either of them expected. Not only did I like these characters individually but together they were wonderful. I loved the friendship between Melissa, Jillian and Tara, a true sisterhood. I enjoyed the push and pull dynamic as their relationship progressed and was cheering the on.
CJ Bloom’s narration was easy to listen to and I found myself immersed in the story she spoke. She brought not only the story but the characters to life for me. The added bonus of a cameo appearance from one of my favourite male narrators, Joe Arden just added to my listening pleasure.
This was a well written, entertaining read that ticked all the boxes for me.

I enjoyed this single mom romance

This was my first book by Jeannine and I will be back for more! Her characters are funny, down to earth and so dang relatable. The way Melissa handled her life after divorce was realistic and perfect. I just adored how Melissa and William navigated their relationship after everything the went through, together and separately.

William Bronson

The story starts with a very adorable meet-cute! William Bronson is a local hero cop who ended up with Melissa Jones, single mom with bad hair dye, in his holding cell.

Great narrators!

CJ Bloom and Joe Arden brought Melissa and Officer Will’s characters to life. This is a great slow-burn. I love this pairs meet-cute and their journey to a hea. The title is perfect for this story as both navigate the complications of love. Another enjoyable book by Jeannine Colette.

A Masterpiece

The narrators were wonderful. Jeannine Colette created another masterpiece. This audiobook roped me in from the first words and kept me hooked till the end. It is so heartfelt and real. I laughed, cried and was left in awe. Melissa is a feisty, no holds barred, wonderful single mother who finally cracks and ends up meeting the love of her life. Will, in my opinion, is what all women look for in a man. He is so amazing, patient, confident and knew from the moment he met Melissa she was something worth fighting for. There was no hesitation he was all in from the get go. These two have their challenges and struggles to overcome to get their HEA but in the end it was so worth it. It's a reminder to choose love even when life is complicated. I would give this book a million stars. Most definitely a must read.

I was sent a free audiobook from Wordsmith Publicity and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Beautiful on so many levels

“If I kiss you, I’d better mean it then?”
“You’d better swear your next fifty years on it.”

This story was such a quick listen because I could not put it down. It’s a beautiful story about love, betrayal and recovery.

Melissa is a divorcee who’s husband fell in love with another woman. William is a small town hero who has found himself engaged to his long time friend/girlfriend knowing she isn’t the right woman for him. A series of funny events has landed Melissa behind bars where Will meets the fiery, independent woman and is instantly attracted to her. What follows is a beautifully told story about love, in all forms, and how we navigate real life relationships between exes, new girlfriends/boyfriends, moms and dads and everything in between.

CJ Bloom did an AMAZING job narrating. I tend to choose audiobooks with dual or duet narration but I did not miss it at all while listening to this book. With that being said, I did thoroughly enjoy Joe Arden’s cameo and the chapter giving us Will’s POV at the end.

This was definitely one of the best audiobooks that I’ve listened to for a long time!!

Just One More Chapter…Maybe

By Jeannine Colette
Narrated by CJ Bloom and Joe Arden (cameo)
I love this story! It so aptly describes the struggles of life after divorce and moving forward after devastating hurt. The author has done an outstanding job with such a difficult subject and including how it affects the kids too. This story hits very close to home for me, but gives me hope for the future. Out narrators are great as usual! CJ Bloom always brings us a great narration. I dislike when a narrator only has a cameo appearance and we are not informed of that beforehand. Joe Arden is superb as always but he only has a couple chapters. Regardless, you will love this story!

Love is indeed complicated but so is this review..

There were so many aspects about this book that I just loved and others that just didn't fit right with the story. It started off so unique and I was even questioning how it was going to go which I love but somewhere around the middle it started getting a bit flat.

I get it, not all stories are going to surprise you and leave you grasping for breath, but I really felt like this book had so much potential with Will and Melissa and then the predictability of the ex-husband just came in and kind of wiped that out some.

Love triangles if this can even be called that can be tricky for some but I do want to say that didn't bother me at all. Sometimes when you know, you know and making a character seem "bad" for the sake of the character being bad just bothers me. I was happy to see Jeannine didn't do that with Will's ex. Hearts do get broken and that sucks but at the same time it is life. It isn't often pretty, and it isn't often easy, but it does happen.

Will really did win my heart from the very beginning. He wasn't perfect and he could have handled a situation or two better but, in the end, he just wanted Melissa and he was so understanding about her kids and that warmed my heart so much.

CJ Bloom carried this entire narration except a brief appearance by Joe Arden and let's be honest he was entirely swoon worthy!! And CJ did great too, I don't think I have listened to any of her narrations before, but she had a bit of a rasp that I found entirely intriguing for Melissa.

Love... It's Complicated didn't disappoint but I do think it was so close to being a five star that some things really disappointed me when they shouldn't have. I do recommend this book if you want something that gives you the vibe of newfound family, new love and even some giggly moments I didn't expect.
