Publisher's summary

Yes, I’m a single dad who needs a nanny for the summer.

But hiring the stranded runaway bride who shows up on my doorstep in a wedding gown with no references, no skills, and no experience?

No one is that desperate.

Except within 24 hours, down-on-her-luck Veronica Sutton manages to charm my kids, my family, and half the population of Cherry Tree Harbor into believing she’s perfect for the job.

And for me.

It’s not that I can’t see the appeal–those baby blue eyes? The endless legs? That mouth made for trouble? But I’ve got enough on my plate, raising two kids on my own and keeping the family business alive. I don’t have the time or the inclination to fall for an outspoken city girl.

So I should have kept my hands to myself.

Holding her in my arms was a big mistake. Even worse? Spending the night together. She ignites a possessive fire in me that I’m finding hard to snuff out.

But the most unforgivable? Growing attached to the sound of her laugh, the scent of her skin, and the way her body wraps around mine in the dark.

At the end of the summer, she’ll be gone.

And if I’m not careful, she might run away with my heart.

Beautiful, Heartwarming and Sizzling Romance!

I absolutely loved everything about this totally addicting, grumpy hot single dad - forbidden nanny romance! It is the perfect balance of hilarious banter, wonderful family saga, heartfelt emotion, and sizzling passion! From the very first chapter, Veronica proved that she was totally bada$$ and a woman I definitely wanted to read about! She finds out that the man she was going to marry in minutes, was cheating on her. When the creep wouldn't let her stop the wedding, she took matters into her own hands, and never stopped. Austin is a single dad who is driven to help everyone but himself. Whenever anyone in his family needs him, he is there for them, never considering his own happiness. When he is in desperate need of a nanny for the summer, he never expected a beautiful, down on her luck woman, in a wedding dress, to show up on his doorstep! Things didn't start out the best between them, but it soon got steamy between them, and very sweet between Veronica and his adorable twins. But what happens when the two people who weren't looking for love, are afraid to ask for what their hearts want most? I really love and fell hard for both Austin, and Veronica, and she is the exact kind of heroine I love to read about. She is courageous, kind, independent, and funny, and I absolutely loved her! Austin was grumpy and stubborn but so sweet and swoony as his walls began to fall. I loved his delightful twins along with their family, friends, and townsfolk, who were not very subtle in their meddling. They were all so authentic, and funny, and were wonderful additions to this beautiful, heartwarming and sizzling romance!
Sebastian York, and Sophie Daniels were outstanding as Austin, and Veronica. They both balanced each characters strength, vulnerability, and passion perfectly. I was mesmerized by York's smooth, deep voice that perfectly characterized the man hiding behind a wall of obligation, fighting to unleash his funny, tender, loving side. Daniels effortlessly brought out the lively, loving, vulnerable, Veronica, who wanted to live and love with her whole heart. Both performances were pure perfection and I was completely lost in their storytelling. I absolutely loved this heartfelt, hilarious, and sizzling romance!
This is a great start to Harlow's brand new series and completely captured my heart from the very beginning. I can't wait for more from Cherry Tree Harbor!

So sweet!

This book is a delightful rom-com that hits the spot. Not a lot of angst or drama but tons of adorable moments with a set of precocious twins, their grumpy dad and their new nanny.

Runaway Bride!

This story was very wholesome and enjoyable. From the beginning you could tell that these two had chemistry and it was only a matter of time before they were an item. The nanny aspect only made things that much sweeter because I loveeeee a single dad/nanny moment! The narrators were great and I am eagerly awaiting book 2 in the series!

Cute story about finding love when you’re not looking. Narration was good and lended to the characters and seeing them in a realistic light.

OBSESSED!!

All of Melanie’s books are incredible. It’s hard for me to find books/book series that I truly enjoy and can stick with. I’ve listened to almost ALL of them. I only have a couple more. I haven’t been disappointed with ANY of them. I’ll be buying all of the physical copies as well. Highly recommend!!

Grumpy single dad hero, sunshine nanny heroine!

Runaway Love is the first book in Melanie Harlow’s new small town series, Cherry Tree Harbor. I’ve always enjoyed MH’s book and when I heard this was a single dad hero and nanny heroine romance and I was like “say less”!

The story starts with Veronica getting a sext from her husband-to-be on their wedding day, but just one problem he meant to send it to someone else and she realizes he has obviously been cheating. 👀 She ends up fleeing her wedding as a runaway bride and shows up at a local diner! At the diner the locals hear out her story and help her out by letting her know a local guy is looking for a nanny!

Austin is the single dad to 7-year old twins. He just found out his sister can’t nanny for the summer and he’s in a bind. That is until Veronica shows up at his front door applying for the nanny position…in her wedding dress. He ends up telling her no at first but later he realizes he needs her in his life. Austin had to put his own dreams on the back-burner to work alongside his father and their family business as carpenters/making furniture. He and Veronica instantly have a connection and it was fun seeing them fall into one another, especially the week his kids aren’t home.

This did have grumpy, sunshine vibes and it was just a fun, quick read! Low angst and a great start to the series with some future books/couples hinted at. The romance is a bit insta-lovey and the 3rd act breakup were both not my favs, but the hero does do some groveling at the end! The audio was narrated by Sebastian York and Sophie Daniels and it made it a breeze to get lost into the book.
