How to honor the life of your animal companion and navigate the journey of grief, acceptance, and renewal after they pass

They delight us, comfort us, make us laugh, and give us their unreserved love … so it breaks our hearts when we have to say goodbye to the animals in our lives. “When we lose a pet, we lose a companion who has been woven into the fabric of our everyday lives,” says Cheryl Richardson. “When we’re grieving, extreme self-care is the order of the day.” With How to Survive the Loss of a Pet, this bestselling author offers guidance and comfort for anyone struggling with the passing of a beloved animal companion.

The bond we share with the animals in our lives is pure, uncomplicated, and powerful - which can leave us unprepared for how intense our feelings of grief are when they pass. In these original audio sessions, Richardson helps you take each step of the grieving process at a pace that’s right for you. Drawing from her lifelong expertise in self-care and her personal experiences of grief, she shares:

  • Calming breathing exercises, self-care meditations, and practices to fully feel and then release grief in your body
  • How to respect your unique journey of grief without timetables or expectations
  • Guidance for helping your friends and family understand your needs
  • Knowing when to say goodbye to your furry friend, rituals for honoring them, and making room for new love to blossom

“Grief, if we embrace it, opens our heart,” she explains. “In life and in death, our pets can be our greatest teachers about the healing power of love.” How to Survive the Loss of a Pet is an insightful, sensitive, and heart-opening guide to what can be the most difficult - yet also the most profound - experience we share with our animal companions.

Wonderfully said

This came to me exactly when I needed it. My sweet Duke got sick and I lost him 4 months later. It was unexpected and it really felt like no one understood my pain and grief of my loss. This was so wonderfully put and said and her reading was very soothing. All the exercises have been beyond helpful. I’ve listened to it twice and I will go back again. It’s helped me to help others going through the loss of their pet as well. Thank you so much. You have no clue what this meant to me.

What I needed right now…

This was really helpful after losing one of the greatest loves of my life, my beautiful 3 legged greyhound named Jessie.

So comforting & helpful.

Listening to Cheryl read her book was so comforting & “educational” in a loving & caring way. I felt like she understood ME & got ME & was present w me. Her pace was slow, just what I needed. Like she was right there & took her time w me. No rushing. I would recommend this to anyone! Especially if they’ve lost a furry family member or members. 💞
