Is this an AI narrator?

The rhythm & pronounciations are SO AWFUL. Dagger is pronounced day-ger, malevolent is pronounced melelovent, and so many others that are so annoying! There is a consistent odd rhythm to her speech that is so regular it HAS to be programmed rather than natural. her inflection is normal though, which has not been my experience with AI.
The stories are nothing special. Too much internal dialogue that really does nothing to advance the story line, just makes your attention wander.

If you can get past the narrator….

OK. the first book is decent. The story is interesting. The second book is ok. I had to force myself to get past the third book. The narrator is horrible. Her cadence is really bad. She slurs some words. She pronounces absolutely like “ablutly” there are lots of other words that are super annoying. But absolutely comes up a lot in the story. There is one moment in the first book where the main character decides to get drunk. And it really sounds like the narrator is performing like a drunk woman, then the next part the character says something along the lines of ‘im not drunk yet’. The stories themselves are a bit repetitive. There are moments where I thought to myself, ‘did the author forget what had already happened’. Could use another round of editing.

Fascinating and steamy

I really enjoyed these firstc3 books. The story line was fascinating and engaging. The characters lovable and the romance steamy. Loved it!

boring

I was not impressed. I found it pretty boring and had to struggle through to finish. I only listened to the first book in the series.

Terrible narrator

I haven’t even finished this trilogy and I find myself waiting for the next mispronunciation. She doesn’t seem able to pronounce any words over two syllables. Sometimes even those are too much for her!
I have read some of the other reviews and I agree that her cadence and characterizations are way off also.
So I will check all my other books to make sure that V. Passmore is not narrating.

Narrator is horrible

I have not finished this book yet and the only reason I am continuing is the story. The story itself seems good. In order to sound like a man with a Scottish accent she is talking through her teeth. Uuggg I can barely stomach her narration. I hope I can finish bc the story is pretty good.

Depends on how board you are.

I listen to the 1st 2. Story is good but boy the narrator is very poor. The 3rd one was so bad I wish I could go in & slap this character. At smart strong woman that is a detective in the Police, is completely stupid. I think I see where the writer was heading 🤔 bad choice. I bought the 1st 3 books together so I couldn't write a review for it. Seriously wondering if I am going waste my last 2 credits.

Narrator improves after the first few chapters

Narrator was so bad at first I wanted a refund. She was sooo monotonal I found myself asking if she was trying damage her own career or the author's rep. Yes Anna, in the first book, was a bit sarcastic and self-confident but, the narrator was so unemotional she began to sound like Krammer's wife Lilith before they added emotion into her character! There were word mispronunciations that got a little frustrating at times trying to figure out what the author meant to say.

I figured that the narrator may have been going through a rough patch and powered through the rest of the first book. I'm glad I did, she gives better narration as the books progress which brings a more enjoyable listen to the remaining 2 books.

The characters develop dimension as their storylines progress; although at times I asked myself "WTH?" and saw that they had to react/behave in a certain way in order for their stories to go forward.
**These are my opinions... mine focused mainly on the narrator because in audio books, the voice(s) of those narrating can make or break your listening pleasure. This narrator almost damaged my experience however, I gave the author a chance. Give this author a chance!!

Good story, poor performance

The narration, cadence, and especially pronunciation and MISpronunciation of fairly common words detracted from the story line. Did the author listen to this before publishing?
