Publisher's Summary

Dr. Ian Smith's diets really work. America has lost millions of pounds following his Fat Smash and Extreme Fat Smash diets. Now, in The 4 Day Diet, Smith has developed a program that allows readers to avoid the normal (and fatal) pitfalls of dieting: boredom, no treats allowed, too much repetition, plateauing. The 4 Day Diet is an ingenious program of dieting modules lasting only four days each:

  • Induction (detox/cleansing)
  • Transition (to reintroduce all food groups)
  • Protein Stretch (to avoid plateaus)
  • Smooth (when you can have some formerly forbidden foods like pizza and French fries)
  • Push (the sprint just before the final stretch, back to a stricter eating plan)
  • Pace (a comfortable module for you to catch your breath)
  • Vigorous (the final module to lose those last few pounds)

You can follow The 4 Day Diet straight through for a month for stunning results. But Smith also designed The 4 Day Diet so you can customize your own program. After the first two modules, you can do the remaining 5 in whichever order suits your schedule or preferences or you can repeat the modules you like best. It also features over sixty delicious recipes for breakfasts, lunches and dinners and a complete snack list - food that will make you forget you're on a diet.

      "good book part 2"

Apparently I missed the reference guide that came with the book. Customer service sent me an email letting me know that I missed it. I'm much happier now!

      "Actually workd!"

This is a great diet because the food keeps rotating. You don't get bored and want to quit. I have been on it for three weeks and lose 12 pounds without feeling like I was dieting.

"No actual information included on the diet"
What would have made The 4 Day Diet better?

Having concrete guidelines for foods to eat instead of just broadly describing 8 different levels of 4 day diets and 8 chapters of why to diet, then never actually giving a diet or any food recommendations

What was most disappointing about Ian K. Smith’s story?

No specifics, just generic behavior modification ideas. He says the exact food is so important but never actually names one food to have on any of his diet levels. I think the audio performance just ignored the entire premise of the book.

How could the performance have been better?

Actually read every part of the book instead of making random references to CD's, etc that are not included with the audio book. Did not get one iota of information from listening to this second book by Ian Smith despite 4 hours of listening. Very frustrating. Maybe this is just a scam

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

      Anger, ripoff feeling

      Any additional comments?

Too bad as it seems he did alot of research but didn't bother to convey any useful information in this production. Worthless purchase and I want my money back.

      "Buy book instead"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Specific details of the diet plan should have been readily available. The narration was fine and even enthusiastic but what foods are allowed and what foods aren't were not even stated. Instead, The listener was referred to another source for that info. In the end I had to go o the bookstore to look over the diet plan itself.

What could Ian K. Smith have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

State the important information of what is allowed and emphatic is not.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ian K. Smith’s performances?

      Probably not.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

      Clear and enthusiastic narration.
