    "Supplements, supplements and more supplements"

The book can be listened to rather than read, but it obviously makes it harder to skip sections. The author does a very good job at explaining the processes within the body such as what diabetes is and such. The book is even relevant to somebody without diabetes and just wants to know about how parts of the body works.

The author is really into supplements, herbs, and vitamins and such and explains how the body uses them and seems to recommend over a hundred.

I'm not too keen on supplements and am more interested in diet. I only listened to half the book and just got tired of listening to more and more about supplements.

I'm not completely bad mouthing this book and it definitely could be useful to someone with diabetes. I'm extremely leery of studies based on sample sizes of 30 or less people which she sites multiple times. I did learn a lot about how the body and its organs work and the book (the half I read) is worth it for that.

    Suzy Cohen

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Doctors maintain us on their drugs without a cure. With diet exercise and good supplements you can live a very different life. Declare war on diabetes and use this book as a battle plan.

A former accountant and staff trainer. Now retired, I enjoy knitting and weaving. I enjoy intelligent, insightful books with lead characters I respect. I deplore novels fille with gratuitous violence and depraved sexual behavior written to shock the reader.

"Good info, narrator drove me nuts"
If you could sum up Diabetes without Drugs in three words, what would they be?

    Vital health information

Who was your favorite character and why?

n/a - this is a medical book without leading characters.

What didn’t you like about Jo Anna Perrin’s performance?

Narrator has a high pitched voice and speaks in an unnatural cadence. Her slow pacing and odd inflections make her narration sound like she is reading a book to kindergartners. I did not finish the book because the narration was too irritating.

I regret not finishing it, because the author's content is valuable to me... I may end up buying it in book form instead. Perhaps Amazon would let me exchange the audiobook for the Kindle book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

not applicable - it would be a documentary.

    Any additional comments?

Sometimes I wonder why people choose the narrators that they do.

"Real help for diabetics - be sure to see the PDF"

This is a great resource for anyone with diabetes. Suzy Cohen discusses the disease, itself, diet, nutrition, exercise, supplements, medications, interactions, and recipes. She is a pharmacist, so she brings a unique perspective to the topic that is rarely offered in other books as most are written by doctors. The pharmaceutical background adds a lot to the discussion of various medications and supplements.

Jo Anna Perrin narrated the book well. There is a long PDF document that comes with the purchase of the audiobook, and it contains a vast amount of information. This is one of those books that would normally require either extensive note taking or the hard copy of the book to really get a good grasp on a lot of the topics, but the PDF makes it possible to listen to the narration and print the material you would need to review. That said, I have the hard copy, myself, and for the sheer amount of material covered in this work, I'm glad that I do.

I was impressed that the author covered the use of teas, which is a topic often ignored in discussions about supplements. I was also impressed that she continued to exhort her audience to make their physicians aware of the supplements that they take as they have pharmacological effects and can interfere with their prescription or over-the-counter medications. She was very open-minded about prescription medications and vitamins and supplements, but she was not without criticisms. I found the book to be particularly well-rounded in its approach various treatments for diabetes.

I will be using this book again, for reference purposes, and I will probably listen to the audiobook every so often as a refresher. It was well worth the credit for the life-saving, well-researched, and well-presented information.

"Brought Blood Back To My Heart"
If you could sum up Diabetes Without Drugs in three words, what would they be?

    NO MORE DRUGS!!!

What other book might you compare Diabetes Without Drugs to and why?

Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease . Both tell you how to eat the right food to prevent heart disease without drugs,

What about Jo Anna Perrin’s performance did you like?

She did a wonderful job to keep my attention, I really enjoyed her voice!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I need to implement more exercise in my daily routine and develop better eating habits. I told my mom I wish I had this info when I was younger , I know I would not be fighting diabetes at this time. I have been in good health all my life and always exercised and was very athletic. But did not eat enough greens and fruit. But I'm excited about putting all this what I have learned to action. Thank you for all your hard work and caring heart to share all this information with us.

    Any additional comments?

If you have diabetes and don't mind doing some work on what you eat and what drugs you take. I highly recommend this book . My friend Allen who I play racquetball with let me borrow his book I soon gave it back and bought a copy of my own. He is proof that it works he has type two diabetes and is off all drugs thank God, he is 67 and plays like he is in his 30s. Good Luck On Becoming Drug Free.
