Publisher's summary

The Wahls Protocol has become a sensation, transforming the lives of people with autoimmune diseases. Now in this fully revised edition, Dr. Terry Wahls outlines the latest research that validates the program and offers new, powerful tools to arm listeners and help them achieve total health.

The Wahls Protocol comes out of Dr. Wahls' own quest to treat the debilitating symptoms she experiences as a sufferer of progressive MS. Informed by science, she began using Paleo principles as guidelines for her unique, nutrient-rich plan. This book shares Dr. Wahls' astonishing personal story of recovery and details the program, with up-to-date research she's now conducting at the University of Iowa.

Split into three different levels, this updated edition allows listeners to choose the modified Wahls Diet if they're new to the regime, the Wahls Paleo Diet if they're ready to amp up their health, or the more advanced Wahls Paleo Plus Diet if they need more aggressive treatment. They can also incorporate the just-added Wahls Elimination Diet into their plan to pinpoint individual food sensitivities, so their diet is as personal as ever.

The Wahls Protocol is a key addition to the "whole food" revolution, and a deeply moving, results-driven testimonial to the healing power of food.

please fix the narration

excellent book although it's basically narrated by a robot. Listen to it at 1.4X so that it's not as painful

Great information but the narration is so painful

Agree with the person who said this was robotic. Couldn’t wait to finish it. Nonetheless, a lot of incredible information, especially for those with chronic illness.

Need to know

Yes it’s long, but with a great narrator and full of important information. Shifting eating habits is hard. The knowledge here will help you eat in a new way because you are making scientifically informed choices. Good good stuff.

Amazing and life changing!

Absolutely loved the information. She makes it plain and simple. For me, I followed the protocol and I’m out of my wheelchair and running again. I recommend to anyone with an autoimmune disease. Practical info that can be used whether you are sick or not!

Eyeopening and Life changing

This book has given me so much hope and encouragement, but perhaps most importantly: guidance. Guidance around all things pertaining not only to my MS diagnosis, but my overall health in general. I've learned a ton, have adapted much of what she recommends and will continue to try getting closer to meeting the Wahl's Protocol criteria. The reason I haven't been able to and the only complaint (for lack of a better word) I have is that to live the lifestyle she teaches it is very expensive! I'm young, single, supporting myself, and living in Boston,MA (super expensive). I can't spend as much as is required to really do this plan. Otherwise though, this has the potential to be truly life changing. Definitely recommend!

10 out of 10

I read this book back in 2015 and I knew that it would change my life but sometimes you have to re-read things and re-reading this book has been a game changer, it’s crazy how much I forgotten. Absolutely worth it 100%!

Life changing

Always wondered how a disease could be “idiopathic”. That surely there was a cellular cause. Itseems doctors never wanted to get to the root of the problem, just treat the symptoms winding up with pills, pills and more pills for side effects of those pills. The you Dr. Walls for doing the work for us and thoroughly explaining the effects of food compounds on our body. What they are and what the good and bad does to us. Thank you for showing how to take control of our health so as not be solely dependent on the medical system. You are amazing!

A must for anyone with autoimmunity!!

Great narrator, awesome subject, finally people are waking up...food is medicine. In a nut shell, eat lots of vegetables, moderate good quality animal protein, including organ meats - as Weston Price recorded-, clean up the body of toxins (ex: mercury) and avoid proinflammatory foods (dairy, wheat, grain and the sweet sugar). After few months health will have improved. One must also add nutrients and change life style.

decent info read by a robot

I generally appreciate the content and agree with the premise that food should be thine medicine. Regardless, there's a logical flaw in touting fruits and vegetables as having all the critical nutrients while also stating they could contain harmful components but eat them anyway ... just rotate them. Given the state of the American diet, the worst oxalates and lectins must be better than any fast food, but the presentation was still biased.
But the narrator... completely lacking in inflection or tone. if she had asked me to press 1 for customer service or 2 for technical support I'd have believed it. Occasionally she verbally smirks at a quip she reads but otherwise just completely robotic. I should have gotten the book from the library and read it.
