Publisher's summary

I know this is wrong, but I can’t help myself when it comes to him.

My mom deserves to be happy after losing my dad to tragedy over a decade ago. But her blissful new relationship comes with a catch.

His name is Emery, my new stepbrother, and he’s the most infuriating, impulsive, chaotic, and strangely intriguing man I’ve ever met.

I’ve managed to avoid him for a year but then on our way to our parents’ cabin, we get lost alone in the snowy mountains of Utah.

That’s when pretenses and boundaries between us start to slip and fall away as we focus on survival. I begin to see the charming and sweet man he is. And maybe all the wild and ridiculous things about him that used to irritate me, are what make him truly perfect.

Emery is a sweet, emotional, and hilariously funny MM romance that features forbidden love, forced proximity, hurt/comfort, and a HEA. It is the third standalone in the Unexpected series.

Loved it

I could listen to this voice all day long about anything and not get bored.

The book was wonderful also. I already own it. I knew I liked it.

This whole series is 🔥!

Emery // Unexpected 3 // Cora Rose

Cora Rose did not go easy on our chaotic and lovable Emery. She covers some sensitive and difficult themes with his character but does them with a compassion and humor that is endearing and entertaining. And don’t worry she makes it up to him with August, his accepting, golden boy stepbrother. Both Emery and August have their imperfections, and learn to love their selves and each other in this sweet, humorous, and spicy read. Cannot recommend this series enough. All the opposites attract, hurt/ comfort vibes you need!

Emery Is Everything

I gotta admit, I'm only on chapter 5, BUT, I have unmedicated ADHD, lots of tattoos, frequent PTSD nightmares, I love alchol that tastes like candy, and "if I don't laugh I'll sob uncontrollably" is my life's motto. It's been a very long time since I felt this understood.... and I think I scared some strangers on my walk home from the store, randomly breaking out into hysterical laughter multiple times.

loved it!

her depth and growth of the characters is spot on for the plot. totally hot sex scenes showing the vulnerability of the characters. some of the plot was recycled from the other books, but it makes sense that they are part of the same friend group. it's feels familiar, like the reader is one of the friends. and the tension is believable and enough to carry the plot and be true to the characters. love this series. I don't usually reread books, but this series will be one I pick up again.

Best one yet??

This series is so perfect. Emery is damaged in the worst possible ways, his childhood scars have made him a wreck but he is strong and inspiring. August is his opposite in so many ways, but god if he is not perfect for our overly endearing complicated emery. I loved their love and their struggles are believable if heartbreaking. You will love this book I promise. TW for past child abused and SA as well as anxiety and panic disorder.

Amazing!

Amazing story and narration! Liam DiCosimo and Alexander Cendese truly brought August and Emery to life and the whole story to the next level. It was emotional, funny, hot, and swoon-worthy. Love this, highly recommend!

Emory blew me away

First, the two narrators, who are also SAG members are nothing short of amazing. I read “Whit” first , followed by “Sem”…and after sampling “Emory”, I ordered that. I’ve purchased more credits and will read/ listen too the remaining titles. I usually research the authors but didn’t do that this time. I was Emory at his age and like Emory ( to quote him) I have “ raging adhd, combined type…and, he’s right, meds help but only up to a point. I don’t know if the author is writing about herself/ himself/themselves but, with the actors/narrators performances, Emory is brilliantly on target on all levels, including the childhood trauma and it’s long term impact. The clinical references are exceptionally and accurately referenced in “Emory” which is pretty cool to see. The humorous, calamitous, filter-less and self aware Emory “who has no life plan” beyond surviving the experiences of childhood abuse by way of sugar(candy) and obsessive, manic, sexual preoccupation is a masterful balance of pain, silliness, and hope. Well Fuc**ing done to this author and the exceptional acting performances of these two narrators

Endearing

I loved this story so much. This is probably my 4th time listening to it and it keeps getting better every time. Lex and his sweet mind are so endearing. I loved the way he works to overcome what has happened in his life. The romance between him and August it’s just perfection and loved every second of it.

See, ADHD can be charming!

Emery is a bit all over the place, but he is quite charming. Oh and August is for sure the best rock a guy like Emery could wish for! I love them together. Their story unfolds well, and I appreciated the growth they both sustained in the long run.

Cute!

So this isn’t necessarily a deep story… I think it could’ve been, but it’s just not. But! I still really loved it and I’ve listened to it twice. I think a big part of it is Alexander Candese’s performance! He was so funny and entertaining. I listen to a lot of books he has narrated and was really lotta way by his performance here, really different than other things I’ve heard! And maybe it’s because I also have ADD but I found the Emery character really really funny. Not going to change your life but this is entertaining and sweet.
