Experience more joy and meaning each day - and have greater resilience when times get tough

What if you could be happier, right now, without radically changing your life? As nationally recognized happiness expert Nataly Kogan teaches, happiness is not a nice feeling or a frivolous extra. It’s a critical, non-negotiable ingredient for living a fulfilling, meaningful, and healthy life - and it's a skill that we can all learn and improve through practice. In Happier Now, Nataly shares an illuminating, inspiring, and science-based guide to help you build your happier skills and live with more joy, starting now.

Nataly’s own journey from Russian refugee to successful investor, tech executive, and founder and CEO of Happier taught her an important lesson: no matter how much you accomplish, how much you live the "right" way, or even how much gratitude you practice, life won't always be smooth. "We experience genuine and lasting happiness when we stop trying to turn the negative into the positive," Nataly writes, "and when we embrace the full range of our human emotions with compassion and strength."

Throughout this unabridged audiobook, Nataly describes how she went from being cynical and resistant to the ideas behind self-improvement and spirituality, to studying everything she could on the science of happiness, to completely shifting her mind-set. You'll learn five core practices for building your happier skills - acceptance, gratitude, intentional kindness, knowing your bigger why, and self-care - along with the scientific research that supports each one. Highlights include:

  • Daily anchors - cultivate a custom set of simple daily practices, fine-tuned for your emotional health needs
  • Bring more joy and meaning into your life as it is - without needing to make difficult or time-consuming changes
  • How happiness leads to many of the things you want in life, rather than results from them
  • Learn an effective five-minute happier workout for whenever you need a boost
  • Strengthen your "emotional immune system" so you can be okay when times are tough - and bounce back to happy sooner
  • Specific instructions for tools and techniques that work - based on what’s actually happening in your brain
  • Effective exercises, journaling prompts, and key insights for developing each core happier skill

As Nataly says: "It's time to stop saying 'I'll be happy when . . .' and start saying 'I'm happier now because . . .'"

Exactly what I needed

This book was recommended to me by a dear friend when we opened up to each other about our struggles. I have tried my whole life to suppress negative feels cause I thought they were a waste. I have focused so much on staying positive, this was the reminder that I needed to give myself permission to feel those “negative” feelings, they are not good or bad, just additional feelings in the complex amount of feelings we feel as humans. Thank you for sharing this wonderful book.

Happiness

I fully enjoyed segments of this book, mostly the second half. I thought Nataly spent too much time talking about her own life. Too much. Almost sounded like her autobiography. I’m also an immigrant & still it was too much. I thought the focus on the second half of the book on the 5 practices for happiness & examples of situations faced by others is what made the book valuable. I fully enjoyed the book starting around chapter 5 or 6.

This book will turn your life around ... TODAY!

For the past 40 years, I've had the pleasure of working with some very inspirational and motivational individuals. Many of these people have written books that I have read. For the most part, I read these books once and then put it on the shelf. Such was not the case with "Happier Now! The fact that the majority of my library consists of audiobooks, allows me to listen to my books on while I am working, driving or exercising. When I purchased this book last Friday, I had no idea how much value I would find in its content. Since that time, over the past three days, I have listened to the entire book on three different occasions. On every "listening," I have found yet another useful self-improvement tool that I could apply immediately. Not only is this book a story about an amazing human being who has conquered many obstacles in her lifetime, but through her own experience, has created a fresh and unique approach on how to "reset and rethink" one's life from a totally unique perspective. The author, Nataly Kogan, personally narrates her book with a cheerful lighthearted and energetic delivery. Nataly gives the reader a very genuine insight into how she has applied the principles that she outlines in the chapters and how they can work for anyone. My intention is to gift this outstanding publication to may of my friends and family members and encourage them ALL to download the corresponding mobile app to obtain the maximum benefit. Have a trip scheduled for this week and I am looking forward to listening to Nataly's book yet AGAIN in flight!

Could not relate to her story.

I could listen to about the first hour. Most of what she said I could not relate too. I am not a Russian immigrant, and an over achiever at this point in my life. Maybe if I listened to the whole book I might have gotten something out of it like stopping to chase perfection and embrace everyday moments. I just had enough of listening to her talk about herself.
