Publisher's summary

Sometimes, an unexpected night can change everything...

It's said that college is where you try things and eventually find yourself. Chase Matthewson hadn't expected to experiment with his roommate and fellow teammate, Gage Statler, but a drunken night at a party led them to the same bed. Before either of them could wrap their heads around what happened, Gage suffered a devastating injury and left college.

With no closure, the two put that night behind them and never spoke of it or to each other again. They both moved on, married women, and started families. Chase lived out his dream of playing professional baseball, while Gage found different ways to fulfill his passion for the sport.

Years later, both men find themselves divorced, focused on fatherhood, and not looking for another long-term relationship. What they don't know is that the past is about to bring them together.

Gage starts coaching Chase's son's travel ball team, forcing the former roommates to come face to face and finally acknowledge their secret hookup. When the team moms joke about calling dibs on the hot coach, Chase wants to tell them he called dibs first.

From USA Today bestselling authors Kimberly Knight and Rachel Lyn Adams comes a double bi-awakening MM forced proximity friends-to-lovers stand-alone romance with secret hookups between two single dads that will have you swooning.

I really enjoyed this book!

I read this book prior to listening, and there is nothing better than having male voices bringing a story to life. It was way better than when I read it in my head.

I'm a big GFY fan. I think there is something special about feeling like you're strictly straight and having feelings for someone, so unexpected that you just can't help it. Maybe this person is your soulmate, and you just don't care that you've never been interested in the same sex beforehand. That this person just calls to you on a deeper level. Sometimes, it's not about the build-up, but what's in your heart.

These two clearly had some underlined feeling for each other in college they messed around. The way MC1 was feeling a center way when MC2 planned to go home with someone else, and he said he didn't understand why he was feeling thay way. Maybe it wasn't a conscious thought yet, but it was there.
They see each other 17 years later, and all those thoughts and feelings come rushing back. This is why I called them soulmates. It didn't matter the sex of the person, just how they felt just by seeing each other again.

The found family aspect of this book was beautifully.

Overall, I really loved it!

A Light Listen & Chuckles

Loved this audiobook! Perfect pace, no angst and all around HOA. This is only the 2nd book, out of 500, I've listened to, that is so upbeat from beginning to end.

Yes yes yes!

🔥🔥
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Small spoiler; I love that there was no third act breakup. It was very much a slow burn and it was amazing!

Poor gage -he deserved better from the mother of his kids, bust sadly - sometimes it’s just is what it is. I’m so glad that he and chase found each other!

Both narrators were amazing!

Okay, but glossed over

"Dibs" is my first Knight / Adams read. From the blurb and all the glowing reviews I really wanted to love this. By the end I can honestly say that I was left feeling luke warm at best, underwhelmed at worse. There were good points in this book such as the positive way some people responded to Gage and Chase's relationship but I feel that the descriptions of almost everything in this book from the people to the events were vague or superficial; no real depth. Because of this I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters so at the end of the day it's just another unremarkable GFY novel. The performances of Cendese and Daniels was good but they could only do so much.

2 stars - not worthy of a repeat listen

Not an easy review to write

#1 - Alexander Cendese is FIVE STARS , Luke Daniels .. is fine, He's not bad at all. I love the tone of his voice , his cadence is a little slow for me but my husband assures me- that's a me thing (he talks too slow too!) - what I am critiquing is/are his voices for other characters- some of them sound like caricatures or impersonations and its distracting.

#2- I am not a critic of the GFY trope, I'm actually a fan BUT this book is exactly what those people who DO criticize the genre are talking about. There is LITERALLY no build up or leading information to explain why two completely and utterly straight boys (and then men) are suddenly ALL in for the D .like zero to 100 in less than a second. USUALLY an author provides an examination of their close relationship, events and shared experiences, or some background trauma for them that provides some emotional intimacy before the physical but not this book. Nope. it literally just drops from the sky .

If the authors had provided only a little more information about their friendship/relationship I would have a completely different review. BUT maybe that's what they were going for and I am now one of those "omg fetishization!. omg not realistic!" peeps. I did finish because the rest of plot is fairly decent and the ending is sweet but I was annoyed the whole time
