Ms. Nyla K!!! Girl! i did not see that little twist coming!! The story of Dash & Kemp was nothing short of amazing. i felt like i experienced all the emotions Dash was going through: the anxiety, fear, anguish, the unknown. Ugh i could go on and on!

Holy Hotness

I absolutely loved this as a read! But on audio??!! That’s another level of damn hotness! The voices are so hot, story amazing! Everything I want from an audio book!!!! I need this whole series on audio!

Dark, passionate, and ravening

I finally got my hands on the audiobook for Distorted by Nyla K. This book is a dark MM romance narrated by Michael Gallagher and Bryant Walker. It was my first time listening to the work of Michael and Bryant, and I was very pleased by their performance. Each voice fit the character's personality, and I was immediately drawn in at the start of the book. Tone and emotions were spot-on, even during the heavy, smexy times which all deserved an A plus. I can't wait to listen to more of their work.

Alabaster Penitentiary is unknown to the general public, and therefore the people who occupy this prison have been lost and forgotten. Unlike the havoc they wreaked on the world, the prisoners of Alabaster are left in the hands of a corrupted warden and his team of correctional officers.
As the author keeps you headed in one direction, you're thrown into a plot twist that may or may not break your line of thinking. You're going to want to hang on tight for this joyride.

Whenever a writer marries my beloved tropes of dark and gay romance, I'm instantly sold on buying a copy. Dash and Kemper's story will forever be ingrained in my soul. Distorted is now one of my top favorite books, and it is best to go into blind. I suggest downloading a copy of the audiobook to enhance your reading experience, because there is nothing like listening and reading along to a dark and entertaining story. Looking forward to reading more about the world of Alabaster Penitentiary.

Simply incredible

Now this is a book work the credit. Why the next in the series isn’t already on audible is beyond me. This is a 17 hour book and it kept my attention all the way through. I have wasted many credits on 6 hour books that lost me about half way through by authors who for some reason are considered popular. Writing is a talent, and this author has it in spades. I can’t recomend this book enough. The narrators were excellent , which means a lot in most books I get on audible but the story is so original and well written that I may still have enjoyed even if poor narrators read the book. Can’t wait for the rest of the books to come out on audible.

This is the first book in the Alabaster Penitentiary series. Dash is a young Russian American bank robber. His dad taught him all the tricks and how not to get caught. Until he got set up and everything went wrong. Instead on going to prison the world thinks he is dead. He actually ended up somewhere way worse. He has found himself in Alabaster Penitentiary. This is where the New York government send the worst of the worst criminals. This is a MM forced proximity dark romance. Check trigger warnings. I can’t wait for more in this series! Michael Gallagher and Bryant Walker did a phenomenal job narrating this book.

Fantastic Listen

Okay whoa this audio was fantastic! Absolutely was left just struck with so many feels.

Dash was so frickin amazing . Wow he totally took me by surprise. He's broken. He's sweet. He's just gahhhhh so dang amazing.

Dash's love interest. Don't get me started. Seriously so. Damn. Good. Not gonna let who out of the bag though.

I don't want to go too into this one. But yes it has darker elements. It takes place in a prison. There is talk of death. Mental Health issues. It's extremely spicey. It's addictive. And it's a book that just has a factor that blows your mind. I will say it hits ya like whatttttt the f?!

So all in all I lovedddd this book. Absolutely cannot wait to read book 2 and 3 now. Just knowing there is more of this goodness makes me squeal with delight.

Seriously check tws like with all Nyla books. Go into this one as blind as you can. That's how I like her books best. And that's how she recommends em too. It really gives you a whole vibe.

I can't say as I've read many prison taking place books. But dang now I want more!

Nyla K can do no wrong to me. But this story hit it out of the park. When I say this book takes you on a wild ride, BAYBEE! This book is like Sixth Sense meets Shawshank Redemption, meets the notebook. I think that’s the fairest explanation without giving to much away.
The parts that I really love (as a therapist) is the respect given to mental health, proper treatment, and therapy without acting like everything can be fixed by wanting it fixed or just acknowledging there is a problem. I know all of this is fiction but if we can talk about consent, safe sex, we can definitely talk about properly managing your mental health. So thank you Nyla K for addressing this issue and not glossing over it.
So I say check your triggers and buckle up buttercup for a great book. I finished the book in 2 days. It was that good. Ok off to my next adventure while I wait for the audiobook release of either Nyla or Lily Mayne. Whichever comes first.

AMAZING!!!

loved it!! I've read all of Nyla's books and listening to this one just made me fall even more in love with her work. Be prepared to have all the feels. I was worried about the narrators but they did a wonderful job..I feel like they fit Kemp and Dash's characters perfectly....

Dash has no idea why he has ended up in a penitentiary when all he did was rob a bank. As the days pass by and things aren't as they seem, Dash turns to his tormentor, Officer Kemper for solace.

I am not quite sure what to think about this book. I felt so many different things while listening, mainly confused, but found myself getting invested in the characters and wanting to know more about them. Dash and Kemper absolutely incinerate the pages when they are together. I found the book to be very sex driven and very long.

This was my first book by Nyla K. and although I am not a huge fan of the rant at the beginning and end of the book, I do see myself reading the rest of this series, when I have time, to see what happens going forward.

Michael Gallagher and Bryant Walker did an amazing job of bringing the characters, story, and heat alive.

Get ready for... mm, dark, taboo, suspense, forbidden, guard/prisoner, disability, and first-person dual pov.
