Publisher's summary

Some people have no appreciation of the fundamentals of the fame game…

MCM Investigations are back! Although Brigit isn’t sure for how long. Money is tight, business is slow, and her partner, Paul, has been temporarily crippled due to her attempts to be in two places at once; one place being at the bottom of a ladder. It’s therefore manna from heaven when an old friend comes to them in need of help.

Deccie Fadden is that rarest of things–someone who experienced a brilliant lockdown. He stumbled into his perfect job, where his ability to have an opinion on absolutely everything is, for once, an advantage. Now he is wildly popular and unpopular. Anyone who thinks you can’t be both at the same time has never experienced the joys of social media. It’s all fun and games until someone decides to kill him, which is when things get really interesting.

Deccie Must Die is audiobook two in the MCM Investigations series, a spinoff from the Amazon bestselling, critically acclaimed, and numerically infuriating Dublin Trilogy.

My Favorite Living Author

Just writing that made me experience a sudden bout of terror fearing Caimh's passing. DONT DIE, CAIMH! Because I cannot manage this vale of tears without you.

On that cheery note. In my opinion, Caimh is the natural successor to Pratchett. Three reasons: Humor, social commentary from a man with his heart in the right place, and last, that heart. Though both Pratchett and MacDonnell can express a somewhat jaundiced (and entirely justified) view of Humanity, both also show a genuine caring for the struggling among us. Whip-smart and funny as hell, Caimh is one of those rare personal heroes of mine that I'd actually love to meet. I've lived long enough to learn that that isn't always a good idea, but I'm pretty sure Caimh would be lovely craic and genuinely kind. If he ever comes to the USA, maybe I'll find out!

In the meantime, I await all his books with great enthusiasm. He's never let me down yet, and I can recommend this one as thoroughly as all the rest. Write on, Caimh, and we'll keep buying, borrowing, and stealing your books. And if you, Audible listener, haven't picked up any of his work, go get some now. You wont be sorry!

don't read/listen while next to sleeping mate

As always, much laughter, familiar characters, laughing, well-written story, and more laughing. Can be a stand alone book but it would be a shame to rob yourself of this author/ narrator duo. McDonnell's humorous imagination is delivered with masterful voice. This author is among my favs, like Sir Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, and anything by the Month Python crew.

Roundabout

Sometimes a roundabout is a tad frustrating as this story is. We miss Bunny.

As usual there is humor, but the profanity, especially the constant references to Jesus (is it absolutely necessary to your story Caimh to use my Lord’s name) and the foul language, as well as some mystery, but the story gets tedious in spite of Jones’ good narrating and character skills.

We hope Bunny isn’t really dead and perhaps they’ll be another sequel or something for him. We’ve completely lost track of which series we’re on and what number. Is there a list somewhere?

Caution while listening!

i had to stop listening in Chapter 1 because i thought i might wreck my car while laughing. These books are just phenomenal. Mr. Jones does a fabulous job of narrating. Do yourself a favor and listen to this series. The mystery is really very good and the humor is spectacular!

Another awesome book in this oddly organized series. The characters are so likable, entertaining, and funny. A great blend of humor and mystery.
