Publisher's summary

A killer is playing cat and mouse...and winning.

DCI Whitney Walker’s in trouble. She’s threatened with demotion if she screws up another case. So, when a killer starts murdering female students, it’s a chance to redeem herself.

Forensic psychologist, Dr. Georgina Cavendish, has spent her life inside the university walls, but when one of her students is murdered, she steps out from behind the text books and puts her skills to the test.

The two headstrong women join forces to stop the killer. But sparks fly when real world policing meets academic theory, and it’s not a pretty sight.

Deadly Games is the first book in the Cavendish & Walker crime fiction series. If you like serial killer mysteries and psychological intrigue, then you’ll love Sally Rigby’s thrilling listen performed by award-winning narrator Clare Corbett.

Includes a special bonus note from the author.

Critic reviews

"Narrator Clare Corbett flawlessly creates the accents and setting of Lenchester, England, while introducing Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and her polar opposite, psychologist Georgina Cavendish.... Corbett's best creation is pathologist Clare Dexter whose eccentricities add a bit of levity. The well-rendered step-by-step procedural, with its gripping conclusion, makes for an exceptional listen." (AudioFile Magazine, review of Cavendish & Walker)

amazing narration!

I'm new to audiobooks but love murder mysteries so gave this a try. Such a good idea. I can't BELIEVE how good the narrator is! Seriously, such a virtuoso performance. She can throw her voice and clearly depict all the characters. When the killer was introduced, I literally got chills. I am so impressed and can't wait to listen to the next one. Great story and very skilled writing as well. Download this!

Brilliant!

So hard to stop listening once started. Well done! The voice of the serial killer was a clever clue. Good fun!

Loved It by the End

When I first started the book, I was really irritated by the 2 main characters. Whiny and obnoxious. The storyline was great so I soldiered on. As the book progresses, the 2 became much more likable (although it happened in a weird pace). I look forward to the rest of the series!

A book I really enjoyed listening to :)

I found the books by Sally Rigby for free on Audible. If you have Kindle unlimited these books are free to read as well. I borrowed both. I like having the Kindle book so I can search for a person later on in the story. This is the second book in the series. The first book was about Whitney Walker when she was younger.

I really liked this book especially the audio book. I agree that Whitney is stupid in the beginning but we have all the facts, she doesn't.

I've already downloaded the next book. The books in this series are only free on Audible until the end of the year.

Not my cup of tea

British story, British accent making it a little tough to listen to and follow the story at times.

Easy listen, interesting story.

While figuring out the killer wasn’t too difficult, it was still a great book. Sometimes in psychological thriller books there aren’t many characters you actually like, but I found that I liked almost everyone in this book. I’m glad it is a series and am looking forward to listening to more Cavendish and Walker stories.

Very very good!

This was a “can’t tear myself away” kind of story. I thought I had it all figured out - but surprise! Nope! It was a great read (listen)!

Very predictable

if you are a mature fan of mystery and thrillers this is not for you. It will feel predictable. The killer’s voice is also very childish and hard to believe. The main character is not very likable either
