DS Whitney Walker wants a promotion, but it’s hard when she’s trying to balance motherhood with a career.

When a newborn baby is kidnapped from the local hospital, she draws on her skills as a mother to help. Despite being ordered not to, and when the leads are going nowhere, Walker enlists the help of a local journalist who’s convinced it’s the work of an international baby smuggling ring. Short & sweet…

Nice easy listen. The story kept me involved & I was def invested in the outcome. The narrator did a great job, would most def recommend!

Fine

It’s an okay story and the writing is okay too. Not bad, but also not memorable. I liked the narrator, but had a bit of a cringe moment when she sang ‘baby mine’ and obviously didn’t know the song. Either Google it next time or don’t sing a song if you don’t know the tune, lol.

Strong female lead for British crime series

Enjoyed the start to this series. Strong and stubborn Whitney has a big heart that drives her policework. I had to look up all the British police abbreviations as I didn't know what DS and DCI were, but I love learned stuff like that. Great beginning.

cliché

The authorities that work against the investigator... too cliché. why must all police stories have the same format?

What Whiner

I like this story but DI Walker is such a baby. She truly needs to put her big girl bloomers on and get on with her job. She would rather whine to herself about how unfair things aare and the DSI is out to get her. I hope eventually she woman's up

Now we know how Whitney got it

Very good story to serve as a prequel to the series involving Whitney and George. Looking forward to reading/hearing more about George’s background. We seem to have more information about George, her family and her romantic relationships.

Good writing, OK story

The writing is good, it makes the story interesting. However the story and characters are not that great. I know it's a short story and a difficult genre.
But it just doesn't make me to wonder or care don't for any character, in the end they're forgettable and replaceble. But I'd give it a try for a full novel with proper character development.
