Great read

Very goodpolice procedural good character development and edge of seat rush to judgment very satisfying

Seriously good story! Don't let this one get away!

Fast-paced, well detailed, and brilliantly narrated.
This one had me on the edge of my chair throughout the whole story. The plot had solid substance and enough twists and turns to keep the reader fully engaged. At one point I turned it off because I did not want it to end! I’m so glad it’s the first in the series!
The main characters are well developed and will stand up to the upcoming series. Definitely, worth the read, I will say though, that as an Audible option this one deserved extra credit... The narration bumped it up a level! Steve Worsley really out did himself in this one!

Exciting

I love that I got in on the 1st book in the DCI Bones Series! I hope to read many more. I think this book gives other Detective/Serial Killer Books a run for their money.

Good listen

DCI Bone is struggling with PTSD after a suspect blew up himself and seriously injuring the DCI. He is asked to return to work to help on a case that’s eerily similar to the one that injured him. Once he returns though, it appears that he’s being set up as the perp. Can Bone solve the case before he is arrested for the crimes? Interspersed in the case, are snippets of the personal lives of Bone and his team that make the story more entertaining. The story drags a bit at times but still a good police procedural.

Love this narrator!

I became familiar with Steve Worsley by way of another author and am delighted to find another detective series narrated by him as well. He makes it a true pleasure to listen to and the writing is just the right mix of gritty- and charming.

depth of scenery, characters and pace

UK. detctiveve novels are so much richer in characters always including warts and all. Fast paced story,believable. great narrator

Fantastic

I get easily turned off of books that have a very long and dragged out intro before the story really starts. Well no problem here because this one hooked me by jumping right into the action immediately. The story is fast paced but not in a way that's hard to follow. I was definitely intrigued and wanted to keep listening to find out what was going to happen next. I found the characters realistic and relatable in their struggles. There was some amusing comic relief that made me literally laugh out loud at parts. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and, even a few days after finishing it, am still thinking about it. I very much hope that this is a long series of DCI Bones and his crew because finishing this book left me wanting more.

I have no complaints about the narrator, which is high praise.

Nothing to go on with

I came, I sampled, hoping for a new series. but not what I was looking for. Narrator’s choice for Bone’s voice was a deal breaker for me. Too many repetitive adjectives in the writing. Gosh I hate writing a bad review but there was nothing outstanding here.

Good start to the series

Picked this book because it was recommended for fans of JD Kirk & Stuart McBride, both of whom I adore. It definitely has some similarities, but thought it was a bit scattered to start. I found the side characters more appealing at this point, and hope to learn more about them and DCI Bone in future. Hoping to better understand a couple of character behaviors I found puzzling. The story was engaging and I’m going to continue, at least for now, and see how the plots and characters go.

Steve Worsley is a lovely narrator. I got used to him and appreciated his work with Stuart McBride’s work.

Surprised me. Serial killers. tediously damaged cops.... But this one was a fun way to pass a very cold winter day.
