Publisher's summary

The first in a new series from bestselling author, Ross Greenwood!

A brutal double murder on a Norfolk beach horrifies the town of Cromer. The way the victims died is chilling and so Norfolk’s Major Investigation Team task DS Ashley Knight to manage the case.

It soon becomes clear that the murders were carefully planned and the finger of suspicion points to an organised crime gang, but as the evidence mounts, a far more sinister theory emerges.

Ashley has been allocated a young but opinionated partner in Hector Fade, and sparks soon fly. Annoyingly for Ashley, Hector is no pushover and looks destined for great things. When the pair delve into the case, they struggle to understand who would inflict such suffering on their victims and hope the crime is a one off from a deranged and dangerous individual. But then another body is found.

There’s a killer on the loose who must be caught, or other victims will meet their fate by the sea.

Bestselling Ross Greenwood is back with the start of an exciting new series, perfect for fans of Mark Billingham, Ian Rankin and Peter James.

High Tide

This story ebbs and flows as the ocean's tides. Surprising ending, love it when I'm caught off guard of who did it. Narration very well done.

Greenwood’s pacing in top form

Ross Greenwood is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors, particularly when the Audible versions of his work are narrated by David Thorpe. The pacing of this book is so brilliant; the reader gets pieces of the puzzle dropped in at just the right moment, all the way to the end. The result is a thoughtful, balanced storyline, developed characters and a perfectly gratifying conclusion!

Many Characters

Excellent narration! Good storyline. Humorous at times. I got lost in so many characters, though.

Doesn’t disappoint!

Ross Greenwood writing and David Thorpe narrating is a winning combination every time for me. I was disappointed that the D.I. Barton series ended because I thoroughly enjoyed each book (I’ve gone back to listen again while waiting for this new series). Though the main characters are quite different between series, I enjoyed this one and am looking forward to more. I find the characters quite relatable and storyline interesting.

Death on Cromer beach

Yay, a new Detective series from Ross Greenwood. I love this new book and I can’t wait to continue the series I do and will miss DI Barton but I can’t wait to get to know Ashley and crew better.

Terrible, Bring Back D I Barton

Unbelievable and illogical plot. The core group of Cromer police officers are at best boring and at worst not likeable, with none of the D I Barton charm and humor. I read the first two books in the series because they were free, but won't be paying for any more.

The setting in Cromer is lovely. Maybe use it for a spin-off of the D I Barton series.

The only good part was hearing David Thorpe's smooth narration again.
