Realistic drunk.
This portrayal of an alcoholic is credible. Drinking when he had decided not to; self-loathing; loss of relationships; vague memory and blackout. Didn't see the end coming.

Easy listen, great narration
It drew me into it from the first few lines of narration. I am a big fan of Winslow. The Neal Carrey series were great thrillers, and the Dawn Patrol books as well.

Crude story, didn't expect the end, but it was befitting, had to end like it did.
The story is about this broken detective, Dietrich, who once was the belle of the ball but the ugliness of this world got to him, sending him in a downward spiral converting him into a heavy alcoholic.
I love listening to Ed Harris's narrations, he is such a great story teller (among his many other accomplishments), he just gives the right touch.

I can’t believe this was so good for being such a brief novella. Usually I feel that characters aren’t developed and these kinds of stories feel choppy. I hope Audible does more of these. And Ed Harris was excellent.
