Publisher's summary

Return to the enchanting Pacific Northwest town of Friday Harbor in New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas’s Crystal Cove where two people learn that fate isn’t written in stone when they’re woven together by the magic only love can bring. . .

On an island off the coast of Washington State, Justine Hoffman runs a B&B, sharing the beauty of the region that has become her home. After spending her childhood in thrall to the wandering whims of her mother Marigold, Justine settled down to live her own life. Still, Justine’s heart is restless. Love remains elusive, a dream always out of reach.

Jason Black is a millionaire videogame developer. A driven workaholic, he’s in Friday Harbor on business, not to sightsee—no matter how tempting it is to relax in the company of his B&B host. And as Jason gets to know Justine, he finds himself off balance with a desire that threatens to expose his long-buried soul.

But Justine is incapable of letting Jason or anyone else into her heart. From the day she was born, she has been bound by a spell that prevents her from finding true love. And freeing herself from the cruel curse could unleash dangers that would consume the very love she wants with Jason.

Magical romance!

I love this book in the series. It really tapped in on the magical part of Crystal cove and it’s history of the residents. Narrator was great. The voice of Jason Black could’ve been a little more personable but it was good. Lisa Kleypas has done great with the contemporary romance!

Strange but entertaining

Interesting story, not scary creepy like one might expect with witches but a happy ending was good

Fun romp into fantasy

Loved it and cried at the end. Doesn't have to be believable. It's a romance novel, for goodness sake. Just enjoy it.

Such a disappointment

Absolutely no spark or build-up of a believable relationship between the two main characters. No humor, no warmth, no fun. No relatable characters. Just an unbelievable and pretty depressing and dreary storyline. Flat narration with terrible growling voices for the elderly women.

I kept stopping the audio because I couldn’t take it. What on earth happened to Lisa Kleypas?

Strange

I am not a fan of the mystical aspect of this series. Would be a fine story without that.
