Publisher's summary

The handsome and charismatic earl of Stratton, Caleb Ware, has been exposed to the ton for his clandestine affairs—by his own son.

As a child, Devlin Ware thought his family stood for all that was right and good in the world. They were kind, gracious, and shared the beauty of Ravenwood, their grand country estate, by hosting lavish parties for the entire countryside. But at 22, he discovered his whole world was an elaborate illusion, and when Devlin publicly called his family to account for it, he was exiled as a traitor.

So be it. He enlisted in the fight against Napoleon and didn't look back for six years. But now his father is dead, the Ware family is broken, and as the heir he is being called home. It's only when Gwyneth Rhys—the woman he loved and then lost after his family banished him—holds out her hand to help him that he is able make the difficult journey and try to piece together his fractured family.

It is Gwyneth's loyalty, patience, and love that he needs. But is Devlin's war-hardened heart even capable of offering her love in return?

Disappointed

Story was a little farfetched. No steam. The ending was horrible because it just ended abruptly.

Reminder of love

Yet another lovely book by Mary Balogh with perfectly matched narration by Ms Landor. Can’t imagine one without the other. I am hooked. Her stories take me away to different times, simpler, most polite by the times standards, a momentary escape to a sweeter era in many ways. The characters are brilliantly described making this reader feel a part of the times in which these stories are told. Looking forward to another.

Loved this story

“Remember Love” Ravenswood, book 1 by Mary Balogh
Yes I loved my time within this Regency romance; although, my heart broke many times and the tears just rolled down my cheeks. And then there were the smiles and happy times, too. I have had this book in my audio library and on my TBR list for a while. Now it is on my read again list. Happy Reading ! !
Note: This review expresses my honest opinion.

"Only one day" RRRR

I like and own many Mary Balogh books but sometimes her tendency to repeat phrases and conversations over and over again drives me bonkers. I wish she would let her editor do some work. Her books would be 5 stars if edited correctly.

Excellent Read

Another wonderful tribute to a time in history when we believed that life was simpler. We love this series as we are so very easily transported to another time and place and kept there in total captivation. Thank you Mary!

Boring, loads of trivial detail and frustrating MMC

The story is loaded with inconsequential detail. The story line is all about one incident that negatively impacts an otherwise great family. Delvin, the future Earl, is portrayed as a rigid, rule abiding character. He is written so that the reader should sympathize with him but, honestly, he had a loving family that he himself implodes. I thought he was a self righteous hypocrite. He blames his father for being unfaithful yet “rule abiding” Devlin sleeps with his leading lady before marriage in garden house as he tells her that he can’t love her. It was frustrating how inconsistent his character behaved. I would pass on this one.

Beginning a new series and laying groundwoek

I'm a fan of Mary Balough. This is a promising beginning for a new series. As this is the launch book, each of the characters who will tell their own stories in upcoming books must be introduced enough for readers to see the shape of their upcoming stories
The hero starts out as a relatively naive young man with an attractive innocence, dedication to duty and love of family that is sincere and enviable. Confronted with the truth of the essential hypocrisy of his father and the facade of perfect family he responds with dramatic and public outrage. He is exiled from his home by his mother. he responds to what he believes to be an unjust punishment by completely severing his ties with all members of his family except for his natural brother who joins him in exile. He morphs into much more complex man after his exile. The heroine is an enthusiastic slightly unconventional young woman.

Returning home after the death of his father he must decide how to relate to his mother and other family members who all have suffered as a result of his actions.

Entertaining but not great

I've read/listened to most of Mary Balogh's books and they're hit and miss for me. In her later books there is such an aura of pathos that I almost get depressed just listening. Unfortunately the talented Ros Landor masterfully portrays that pathos in her narration. I am a senior and have imperfect hearing and in this book, I had the audio volume turned up to max and still couldn't hear the book clearly. Please note that only Ros and MB affect my hearing this way. Anyway, I can't recommend this book to anyone and probably won't listen again.
